Interesting thing that Hemphill was one of very few presidents who stepped away from Sowthwestern to go to another job.

Well, dear friend, he has been under MUCH pressure for several years. For the last few years there have been rumors that he wanted to leave. Trustees were not happy with enrollment figures and chapel attendance. It was under Hemphill that Dr Bullock was placed on faculty and now she is being "encouraged" to leave. Hemphill strategically is "retiring" from SWBTS so he can receive retirement benefits at age 55 while starting a new career with LifeWay. Hemphill was not "hardline" enough so he is "leaving".

Much to the dismay of the left, this has little to do with what they concoct. People who know Dr. Hemphill are shocked he stayed in academia this long. He is a church-growth guy, and loves the local church.

Yes, I agree that he is more suited for Church Growth than in the academic world.
