An IRS campaign to apply additional scrutiny to conservative groups went beyond targeting "Tea Party" and "patriot" groups to include those focused on government spending, the Constitution and several other broad areas.
The additional guidelines created by the agency were part of a timeline, obtained by Fox News, from the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration, which is looking into the controversial IRS practice. IRS officials apologized Friday for the scrutiny, but new information suggests senior leaders were apprised of the effort as early as 2011 despite public denials from the top.
Republican lawmakers have vowed to investigate and hold hearings, calling the revelations deeply troubling.
"The conclusion that the IRS came to is that they did have agents who were engaged in intimidation of political groups," Michigan Rep. Mike Rogers told "Fox News Sunday." "I don't care if you're a conservative, a liberal, a Democrat or a Republican, this should send a chill up your spine. It needs to have a full investigation."

None of this should surprise anyone. Especially after putting those with more than a week's worth of food in their panty as someone to watch.
With the advancements in electronics and database capability, Big Brother is watching. With the growing ease of generating a query, comes the growing ease to target folks, whether individuals or groups, for whatever purpose.
Years ago I used to extract targeted lists for direct mail advertising purposes. Back then, it was relatively easy to code potential and existing customers with what was known then about their preferences. Folks, that was almost 20 years ago. Ancient history compared to what can be done now.
I don't even want to think about the capability the government will have when Obamacare medical records database is fully implemented. Because of the linking capability to records maintained by any other government agency. Big Brother, has or will soon have, the capabiltiy to target anyone they please for any purpose that suits those in power. Perhaps this "IRS scrutiny" is just another indicator, that it's already underway. -
Where was the outrage when the IRS targeted liberal groups during the last administration? http://www.salon.com/2013/05/14/when_the_irs_targeted_liberals/

A George Soros funded "media matters" kind of group admits that it got secret illegal information from the IRS concerning the Tea Party groups.

This activity was nothing but an attempt to neutralize the Tea Party so we would not have another 2010. And it apparently has worked to some degree. Goes to show that Obama being re-elected was not just about a majority wanting him to have his agenda.
