Now just suppose you were to be willing to accept every detail given by Christ -- why would you fear that in the case of Matt 18??
Is hell-fire preaching good or bad?

I don't see (or hear) anything wrong with hell fire preaching. The problem is getting people to listen and understand. But then it hard to get some to listen to the "warm fuzzy" preaching nowadays too. JMHO (just my humble opinion)
God bless~ :wavey: -
I just found something strange....
I just did a search on the word Hell in the KJV and the NIV, and neither has Paul mentioning it one time... why would Paul not mention Hell?
And the only time in the Greek that he mentions the Greek word for Hell is in
1 Corinthians 15:55
O death, where [is] thy sting? O grave, where [is] thy victory?
Does anyone else find this strange?

In 2Peter 3 it is the destruction of all the wicked in the lake of fire event that he associates with Christ's return.
In 2Thess 1 - Paul does the same thing. Showing that God is "dealing out retribution" to those who "persecute YOU" speaking of those in HIS day getting their just dues - at that FUTURE date.
Paul also mentions it in Romans 2 and in 2Cor 5:10 where the contrast between those who are rewarded with heaven is made with those who are rewarded with hell.
In Christ,
Bob -
John shows that punishment of the wicked to be deferred until that same future date in Rev 14:10-18 and in Rev 19-20.
Christ shows the same future event in Matt 24 and in Matt 25 and in Matt 7 where the fate of the wicked (the punishment due them) is shown to be given only at that end-time event.
Like I have always been saying. -

On Hell and Praying for my wife and I
Come now. let us reason together...
The Bible is clear on the matter of Hell and any restriction on preaching any doctrine of Scripture is the work of Satan himself!
-- Hey "john of Japan" one of the first evangelists of the past that I ever studied or read was your grandfather... quite a "pedigree" :) lol - But praise the Lord for your own service in "your generation"!
And no wonder Claudia had such a false dichotomy of Preaching on Hell! She does not even believe it is a literal place of eternal torment.
That is the difficulty with reading words here... All posts are considered equal until one discovers over time the Biblical convictions of the author...
Meaning, some "teach" as they publicly share their "ideas" that we never would allow to teach in our churches... [myself included of course... as my wife and I have been separated for nearly half a year... tough to live (since the middle of May) when the dearest creature on the face of the earth to you has not had a conversation with you in nearly 6 months and yet you hold yourself largely responsible for becoming such a stumbling block that she would apparently feel that she would rather turn her back on God and His will, than stay with you - if you knew my wife and I you would understand my own guilt (that I have laid before the Lord)and yet the hope that I hold strong in my heart through His unending mercy and forgiveness and sovereign will for my wife and I - working all things together for good]
So let all be aware... chew up the meat and spit out the bones...
God bless... And keep preaching men, you all are preaching faithfully
"Thus saith the Lord"!
The ladies have shared some very good words too!
God bless.
- Michael -- P.S - So Please also keep my wife Cheri and I in your prayers!
The Verse the Lord has given me recently is this:
"We sorrow, but not as those that have no hope"
I sorrow because of what my wife Cheri means to me.
I have hope because of what Cheri and I mean to the Lord God.
Please continue to pray for our reconciliation as God works His will... -

Not only was he great as a grandpa, it was a tremendous help and blessing to me to know him, and even live and work with him for a year after college. I follow him as he followed Christ. -
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition! :)
Amen! and Praise the Lord in deed! :)
Many a preacher would to have loved to have that ministry opportunity
to say nothing of the Love of Christ in a grandfather as faithful to the Lord as He.
I am glad that our cyberspace paths have crossed! :)

Yes indeed.
I guess if spanking can have the influence of delivering our souls from Hell,
then its not a far cry from turning us into "saints" either :saint: :saint: lol
- Hey I sent you a private message... -
Enough said
Well, enough said I guess?
If one preaches the whole counsel of God - Then "Hell-fire" preaching of
Hell will follow any Biblical Pastor/teacher because well 'er .... its in the Scriptures!
God bless,
