Is it hard to be a teenager and a Christian today. Does the teenage world and the Christian lifestyle go together? What is ya'll's input on this thing?

Well, I'm an ancient 39 yrs.old, so I guess I can answer.
You have to remember that we all grew up in a different time, but not necessarily easier. I grew up a christian, and most of the time I went to a public school.
I wore dresses 2" below the knee, when mini skirts were in style. I wore socks when all the girls my age, wore nylons. I could go on, but I'll spare you the "ten miles up hill both ways story".
We all had to face our battles with drugs, alcohol, sex and what to do on a Saturday night. Just have fun and always keep your principles. Stand up for what you beieve in and don't betray yourself. Decide what you can live with. One day you'll be twenty and when you look back, you'll be glad it's over.

no I don't think so... maybe because School's teach sex before marriage is ok... but I think in any era you had to stand up for your faith...

I was a teenager from 1990 through 1997, and it wasn't hard then, but maybe things are drastically different now? I don't remember schools teaching sex before marriage was okay, but they did teach us about contraception and the like. Very different things, though.

and you get free condemns in health and science class... at least in Alaska  </font>[/QUOTE]How does that make it hard to be a Christian? I mean... people saying "if you choose to have sex, then use a condom, blah blah" I always just thought, "well that doesn't apply to me. next!" Didn't make things HARD for me by any means. -
In any age, being a Christian will be somewhat difficult because there is a war going on for control of our lives between God and evil(which pretty much composes the Devil, flesh, and the world). In the present it is somewhat more difficult because churches have become more liberal and the world more wicked. So the influence to do good is lower than the influence for evil. Now, this is not saying that God has any less power or that His providene is not in control. An example of my point what one sees on the tv is more wicked today then 10,20, or 30 years ago. There is more sin now and excuse and approval for sin now then ever. In Christianity today, more and more churches and Christians are becoming liberal. Now this does not give an excuse because the Bible teaches in 1Corinhians 10:13 "There hath no temptaion taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."
So in some ways it is harder ,but God gives grace enough for each and everyone of us. -
I agree with blush. Also, just because they give out something free doesn't mean you have to use it!

Hard? Well I've never been beaten, starved, imprisoned, or stoned. I'd say we got it pretty good. THat's not to say it's easy but definatly nothing like the early deciples faced.
We live in a time of complacentcy, even among the saved. Now I have a hard time with discouragement, because I've never known worse that what I've experianced so far, but God always gives grace for whatever you face.
Just keep going, and never compromise what's right, because God is faithful.
