Is JKV superior to all other translations
In this age of preciseness: Do we need to specify which edition of KJV? There are several, they are not all the same.

The point of this thread was not even to dispute with those who think the KJV may be or is superior overall to all other English translations. It would take a great deal of evidence to prove that opinion true. There may be valid reasons for having a preference to use only the KJV.
Instead, one point of this thread is that the KJV is not superior at every rendering of every verse to all other English translations. In at least some verses, another English translation has a clearer, better, more accurate, and thus superior rendering to that in the KJV.
If holders of a KJV-only view could admit the valid point of that last statement, perhaps it would be a good beginning place for discussing the Bible translation issue. -
I've read all three pages of this thread. I don't think your are golng to get a valid discussion going.
But there is another question that need to be answered.Do we have to start addressing MCDirestor as your genuiseness? -
Plain Old Bill: //I've read all three pages of this thread.

Uh, er -- isn't three pages a discussion going already?
Plain Old Bill: //But there is another question that need
to be answered.Do we have to start addressing MCDirestor as your genuiseness?//
If all else fails consult the Scriptures:
1 Timothy 5:1-2 (KJV1611 Edition):
Rebuke not an Elder, but intreate him
as a father, and the yonger men as brethren:
2 The elder women as mothers,
the yonger as sisters with all puritie.
I guess McDirector will become 'Sis' -
O.K. then ,:tonofbricks: :tonofbricks: are we now to address MCDirector as genuiesnessis?

I haven't found another English translation that even comes close. Is it not add that those who believe there is an infallible copy of God's word in the English language on planet Earth unanamously say it is in the KJV? Strange also how churches that accept sins such as homosexuality NEVER touch the KJV. Something about that book! :love2: -
HA! You guys! I'm glad I didn't slip over and read this during class. The kids would never understand why I was laughing!
Humbly submitted,

The advances in Biblical language study, the discovery of earlier manuscript evidence, and the technical aspects of the change of meaning of words in the English language make modern translations, particularly those which aim for textual accuracy and maintaining the syntax of the manuscript as closely as possible, far more accurate and practical than the King James Version.
-
"Well Logos1560,there must be somthing about the (insert any translation) for you (kjv only people) to devote SO MUCH time picking it apart."
-
The KJV is superior to all modern versions because we see why this KJV is STILL alive since almost 400 years. The Bible teaches that God's Words are God's CERTAINITY. The KJV superiority is the CERTAINITY of His Words.
-
CERTAINITY???

Your claim seems to be similar to the claim that Roman Catholics made for the Latin Vulgate. In the preface to the 1582 Rheims New Testament, the first reason given for its use of the Latin Vulgate was that "it is most ancient." Gregory Martin, one of the Roman Catholic translators of the Rheims, asked Protestants: "Will you be tried by the vulgar ancient Latin bible, only used in all the west church above a thousand years?" (Fulke, A Defense, pp. 77-78). Thomas A. Nelson claimed that “the Latin Vulgate Bible was used universally in the Catholic Church (Latin Rite) for over 1500 years” (Which Bible, p. 97).

The people who have chosen KJV as their Bible will not regret about their choice when they stand in front of God on the Great Day of Judgment, while so many so-called intelligent Doctors, Pastors who criticize KJV by eloquent logic and profound knowledge, will be speechless and ashamed!
When I talk with Anti-KJV people I have often found they don't know much about the Bible! They don't care about the difference!
God loves KJV and the people who love KJV! -
-
Well, Bitsy, it doesn't leave me speechless..
God loves the NIV and the people that use the NIV.
God loves the NASB and the people that use the NASB.
God loves the NLT and the people that use the NLT.
God loves the NKJV and the people that use the NKJV.
God loves the HCSB and the people that use the HCSB.
God loves the ESV and the people that use the ESV.
God loves the NET and the people that use the NET.
God loves the CEV and the people that use the CEV.
Not to mention (or in this case, clarify) 1611kjv, 1762 KJV, 1769 KJV, 1873 KJV, 2000 KJV... or any of the other revisions of the KJV.
I know I probably missed a few, but you get the idea!
To say that God only loves those that use the KJV.. leaves out Paul, Peter, John and .... JESUS!!!
Jesus didn't even use the OT text the KJV uses!!! -
-
IMHO the KJV1611 Edition is superior to the KJV1769 Edition.
IMHO the KJV1873 Edition is superior to the KJV1611 Edition.
IMO the HCSB = Christian Standard Bible / Holman, 2003 /,
is superior to the KJV1873 edition, especially here in
the 21st century (2001-2100).
