In days gone by, we had many street preachers who had great success in that ministry.
But in today's society, with our current culture - is it the best and most effective means for presenting the gospel?
Many of us have limited time as well as resources - thus we need to plan our stragedy in a manner that
will be most effective.
If street preaching is not the best means - then what are some other better alternatives?
Same goes for cold door knocking

Things like quick transport and smart phones in every pocket have definitely changed the nature of the audiences, compared to a century ago.
As far as new methods, that conspiracy themed viral campaign that that one anti-abortion group ran was very interesting to me. I started a thread on it, but nobody here was interested.

Here is one view (I don't think that the connections drawn are necessarily on target, but I think Paul Washer's comment was spot on).

While I don't think that it is the most effect means of communicating the gospel, I suppose it also depends on circumstances. A street preacher may have a viable audience in some situations (colleges, some town centers, other countries, etc.).
We also need to be careful that we don't become hypocritical. I have argued that the audience has moved from the streets into the living room. That said, evangelism cannot be evaluated simply by the number of people it reaches. I've seen some videos on campuses where the preacher is truly engaging the audience and communicating the gospel to them.

Think my main problem with that concept would be that the person called of God to do that needs to be preaching not angry at them, but in the love of Christ ad empowered by the Spirit!Just seem to be too much yelling and argueing over minor issues at times...

The only reason you ask this question is because you hold an arminian soteriology and confuse the results of evangelism with evangelism itself. You need to understand what evangelism is and what the goals and intents are in evangelism. But to answer your question street preaching is very biblical and that's all that matters. The results are up to God to break the walls and resurrect the sinner. Only God can shine illumination past the dead sinner.

Maybe so but what stands out more? The street preacher or just another text or tweet?

What you see Jonah, Stephen, Paul, and Jesus doing is open air preaching.
