I thought it was in 1991. Then I thought it was in 2001. Now I'm wondering if THIS is finally it. See Ezekiel 38-39. In Ezekiel's day, Syria, and the southern Muslim countries of what was the Soviet Union, were considered the "uttermost parts of the north." Iran could easily be fitted into that equation. Who will come against Israel from "the uttermost parts" in the current war? What should we expect? How soon?

Instead of trying to figure out when and if, why not just leave it in the hand of the Lord?

==We don't need to speculate about such things. While the study of prophecy is interesting it is dangerous to start speculations every single time there is a war in the middle east. Could this be "it"? Certainly. Could it be just another war, and rumors or war, that will happen? Certainly. Let's allow events to play themselves out. If this is Ezekiel's war we will all know soon enough. Ok?

I agree it could be, and see no danger in studying the Scripture and weighing It against current events.

==My point is that everytime there is a war in the middle east these type of speculations start running wild. The result is that some will make false predictions about the end times (ex: Y2K, Gulf War, 9/11, etc) and others will stop taking prophecy seriously. In fact if you read anything about Christians who are preterist, in their view of prophecy, you will see that these types of speculations are "part" of what lead them to their conclusions.

There is nothing wrong with studying Bible prophecy. I have a whole section in my library dedicated to books, and other materials, related to Bible prophecy. I am a pre-tribulational, pre-millennial, dispensationalist. I read books by Walvoord, Pentecost, and other "responsible" teachers/scholars. I don't favor those who make predictions or who like to "leave the impression" that something will happen at a certain time.

What is wrong is trying to set dates or the timing of when events will occur. Jesus said that we don't know the day nor hour and that the Son of Man will come when nobody expects Him to (Matt 24:36, 42). We should study prophecy so that we can know what God is doing and is going to do. However we don't know "when" these events will take place and therefore there is no use speculating.

Per the current Middle East war...let things play out. This may very well be the start of Ezekiel's war, but it may not be. We are to keep looking to Christ, keep witnessing to a lost world, and keep growing fellow believers (and ourselves) in the faith. In the process of doing all of that we look forward to the blessed hope of Jesus' soon return.

    Looking for views on scripture

I've been looking for threads that discuss not if this is "it" necessarily, but views and interpretations of Ezekiel 38-39, and scripture pretaining to Damascas and other signs of the endtimes.

So if anyone feels like providing links to their favorite prophecy sites or to research on interpretations of relevant scriptures, I'd really appreciate it.

    Thanks,

    Maureen

Ezekiel 37:[16] Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions:
[17] And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand.
[18] And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt thou not shew us what thou meanest by these?
[19] Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.
[20] And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thine hand before their eyes.
[21] And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:
[22] And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all:
[23] Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will save them out of all their dwellingplaces, wherein they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God.
