Is Watching Sports on Sunday Violating Sabbath?

Sabbath of the OT was just given to Israel, but still under the Day to worship God...

 

No, as in cannot watch sports on Sunday?

 

It seems that on this thread folks are looking for some "rule."

What a believer can or cannot do is rarely what the NT is about. Rather, most areas are presented in the matter of what is better.

A believer can drink and a believer can get drunk, it is better that a believer does neither.

A believer has privilege, but love conforms.

It is that when it pertains to the day of worship and rest.

It isn't what one cannot do, it is what is best to do and not to do.

I can waste time watching humans chase after each other and human praise, or I can devote myself to considering the things pertaining to my Father and His honor.

it is best to work 6 days and rest on the 7th. One doesn't have to rest, but it is best to rest.

Should you worship on that day of rest it is better. Should you worship the whole day on that day of rest is even better. If you are as John "in the spirit" on that day of rest that is even better. If you are with the Lord on that day of rest it is best.

So, the question I ask is, not is it wrong, but what is better and best.

 

I think the Lord expects us to live for Him every day, so I don't value one day over another.

If everyday is the same why would one day in seven be mentioned.
God explains why the day was made for man.

 

The sabbath is on Saturday and is still a day of worship.

The point is, nobody keeps the Sabbath.

 

They keep the Lords day as the one day in seven rest.
Hebrews 4:9 is clear there remains a keeping of a sabbath,looking forward to our eternal rest in Christ.
Not a return to a Mosaic sabbath as you often suggest, gathering sticks and such, but keeping a day unto the Lord.

 

“One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.” Romans 14:5–6 (KJV 1900)

 

Where does this identify the lawful keeping of the Lords day,as a day to be optional?

 

“For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things; That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.” Acts 15:28–29 (KJV 1900)

No mention of observing holy days.


“Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:” Colossians 2:16 (KJV 1900)

 

These are references to ceremonial laws, that people attempted to hold onto.
Notice it is Sabbath plural.

No...it says sabbath's plural....
Are you taking away from. Scripture when in jer.31 it says all of the laws will be in our heart not o ne of God's laws will depart

 

The Sabbath was the sign of the OT now abolished.
