And I am quite shocked that somebody who calls himself a Christian would continue to lie and bear false witness the way you insist on doing.

But then, we've already established that you're a hypocrite, so what else is new?
...then certainly you can provide how I have done so, since the accusations fly so easy for you. It's put up or shut up time.

Establishing things in your dreams don't count, btw...

Webdog, and Johnv, I just want to ask if you have EVER been hunting?.. I mean real hunting (not chasing a mouse around your house)...

I mean, going away to a hunting camp, searching out the area, looking for the signs of deer, rubs, scrapes, etc... devising a plan for your hunting team, where a few go off on a "drive" to manuver the deer to the ones that are in their stands ready to shoot the deer... you then get up at 3 - 4 am, getting together with your friends, get your guns, ammo, maps, doe scent, etc. together, and head out to the field.

Have you ever had this wonderful experience?
Climbing into a tree stand, listening to nature, for any signs of deer movement...Then you hear it... you look at a brush pile just off in the distance, and you see some movement behind it.. .you notice a couple antlers... and it is slowly moving toward your stand... It pauses, and eats some acorns... you rattle your antlers, or make a call on your deer call.. and he raises his head and he starts cautiously walking toward you.. he is only 100 yrds off, but you know he is coming closer.. and as he comes closer.. 75 yrds.. you notice he is at least a 6 point... he keeps moving closer.. he is only 35 yrds away, and your heart is pounding... do you try to shoot now, or wait until he is closer? At 25 yrds, he stops, raises his head as if he smells something (probably you! LOL) you know that it is now or never.. he turns sideways.. but there is a branch in the way for a good shot.. he makes a couple steps forward, just enough to avoid the branch... you raise your 30-06, and put the scope on him..you notice he is a good 8 point.. .you put the crosshairs just right behind his shoulder blade... you feel your heart, you hear your breath...then you slowly pull the trigger!... BOOM... He drops.. Man you did it!.. .your first buck!...

NOW... to you city people, this might sound barbaric... and it might sound sinful... but to thousands of good Christians.. who loves to hunt around America... Pastors, Deacons, Trustees, Youth leaders... Lay people... Men and Women, this scene will be played out this fall (This coming Monday in WV)... Are you that oppose hunting ready to tell all of those thousands of Christians that they are sinning?

Are you ready to tell the whole West Virginia Baptist convention which organizes a bow hunters retreat each October that we are sinners?

If so, you better have Bible to back you up! Just because you live in a city, don't impose your cultural biases onto us who choose to live in the country. Don't put your likes and dislikes into the same category as God's word.

So Webdog and Johnv.. wanna come to WV?, and I will put you with some real good hunters that would give you the thrill of your life.

Unless you have experienced something, you are not in the position to say it's a sin when millions of Christians will be experiencing the thrill of it next week... Christians that know their Bible inside and out... but just happen to love hunting.

Well I have been deer hunting and work with trappers. Tim, all I can tell you is that it is a bad time of year for you to put antlers on your head and walk on all fours our in the forest.

Did some rabbit hunting in my youth, and been sport fishing. And, like I said, I did 4H with my children.

I don't think anyone's said that. In fact, I've stated very plainly that I don't oppose game hunting, sport fishing, or for that matter, mouse catching.

The only assertion that's been made is that killing and animal just for the thrill of killing something can be sinful. The typical hunter, such as yourself, doesn't kill just for killing, they do it out of a love for nature and appreciation thereof.

I haven't, and have no intention of doing so (unless I necessarily have to in order to survive), but I will ask you this...does a large number of people make something right?

I think I've made my opinion known to more than that here, as the web is worldwide :) I would ask what the motivation is in doing so...

I can provide biblical support that death came about because of sin, that we are to be stewards of God's creation, and God's original plan did not include death. The argument from silence is invalid.

I have experienced having to put an animal down out of necessity, and was quite saddened by it. I could never imagine doing so just for entertainment. Me thinks you folks have become numb to death as a result of your culture and how you have been raised. Using your logic, it should be permissible to kill any animal just for the fun of it

Then why aren't you a vegetarian?

Then why aren't you a vegetarian?
Why don't you actually deal with the question I asked? You made an accusation, back it up.

I'm not a vegetarian because I choose not to be. I have NEVER said anything about hunting for food, or animals should not be used as food. I asked you before...do you know what a Red Herring is?

Then don't go hunting and your self imposed conscience will be more comfortable.
But Rev, you just dont understand. They are just too pretty to shoot.

Maybe I have misread you...

Here is what i am hearing (reading)... that if a person likes to hunt... enjoys to hunt.. gets a thrill from hunting.. they are sinners...

If this is not yours or Webdog's assertion, then I humbly apologize...

If your assertion is something like this...

A guy goes out and shoots a deer in the back leg just to see it suffer before he kills it... it's a sin.. .I would agree... THAT WOULD BE SINFUL.. that is showing disrespect to creation...

We should be compassionate in the way we kill our game. You know, take the best possible shot.. not be sloppy in what we do....

God gave animals to humans to use... for meat, fur, etc... animals don't have a soul.. therefore they are not equal to us humans.. but PETA and the animal rights activists want to take it to the level where they are equal... That is what I am reacting against....

Again, if I have misunderstood your intentions.. I am deeply sorry...

Will everyone answer this question so we know where each other stand?

Is hunting a sin?

I say it is not...

Because they've already been addressed.

I'm not a vegetarian because I choose not to be.

Ah, so then you choose to pay someone else to kill animals for your pleasure.

I asked you before...do you know what a Red Herring is?

And I answered you. Now, do you know what supralapsarianism is?

God never tells man to do anything sinful right?
Genesis 9:2-6
(2) The fear and dread of you will fall upon all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air, upon every creature that moves along the ground, and upon all the fish of the sea; they are given into your hands.
(3) Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.
(4) "But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it.
(5) And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each man, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of his fellow man.
(6) "Whoever sheds the blood of man,
by man shall his blood be shed;
for in the image of God
has God made man.

I love showing this to vegans.. (not saying anyone here is.. I am just sayin....)

for the umpteenth time, nobody has condemned hunting for food.
Notice, however, that God demands an account for all blood shed for each animal.

Do you have a Paypal account? I would like to send you $1 to buy a clue.

By this response (and I use that phrase loosely), it's apparent you don't.

No read it again.. that is not an account for lifeblood FROM the animals.. but lifeblood FROM man...

And I am sorry for misreading you.

Yes, actually, I do have a paypal account. But why don't you hold onto that dollar so you can use it to pay someone to kill an animal for your pleasure.

By this response (and I use that phrase loosely), it's apparent you don't.

Or it could just be apparent to everyone else that you're just foolish and there's no reason for me to take you seriously.

Sorry, Spurgeon, the passage never says "God demands an account for all blood shed for each animal".
