Is itunes compatible with any MP3 player?

You might snoop http://www.getsongbird.com/ and click on the gadgets tab to see if yours is supported.

You need iTunes (which is free) from Apple to access iTunesU.
Most lectures are just podcasts and are (usually) in MP3 format when you download them. If you are using a non-Apple player you will need to create a proper folder for the files and discover them through the dashboard of your other player.
There are some shortcuts out there but I don't know them.
The lectures are great and I've been raving about this for almost 4 years now I think. Sorry if it never made it across anyone's screen but I've mentioned it before here. The access to such a wide variety of lectures and presentations really allows a true student (not just one seeking a degree) to learn and comprehend some best of world teachers and thinkers. I've enjoyed stuff from a wide variety of schools and am constantly go through the contents for more stuff. :) -
How do I find these courses? I'm a newbie at this. -

Maybe I missed what you were getting at. Songbird is an itunes type program that you use to manage your music and sync to your player.
Itunes store on the other hand is where you find stuff on the apple store.

gets you to the education stuff. -
The Church History lectures from RTS (Dr. James, I believe) are alright, but Gerald Bray's Church History lectures (from Beeson I believe) are FAR better IMHO (and also free, at www.biblicaltraining.org). -

I do not know, you would have to check songbird's site, my suggestion was responding to your question "is itunes compatible with any MP3 player?"
Just found Get recommendations on new artists based on songs you already love, find out who's playing the clubs in your town, download & buy your favorite MP3s." as one of their features. I'd guess you could but do not know for positive.
