    That's Penal Substitutionary Atonement. It's not the only atonement theory (as is being discussed on another thread) eg: you have Anselm's Ransom Theory (allegorised by CS Lewis in 'The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe')

    Just for your information there are literaly Hundreds of Baptist Ministers, Evangelical Ministers, Lutheran, Calvin, etc... who become Catholic yearly. In fact, it appears that a large number of converts are from the "Intellectual" side.

    Here is one organization that claims in the past 3 years they have helped over 700 ex-ministers become Catholic: http://www.chnetwork.org/

    They have a program on the largest Christian TV station in the world called EWTN. http://www.ewtn.com/journeyhome/index.asp

    Every week the feature a new convert who was once a minister or something. Every now an then I watch the program.
