The term eating and drinking is a term of familarity. John did not hob-knob with people but Jesus did.Spinach said:Very good food for thought. I'm not looking for argument, either.
Here's one that goes along with one of your points and then veers back again:
[Mat 11:18] For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.
[Mat 11:19] The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.
