You have two families: "Joe Legal" and "Joe Illegal"
Both families have two parents, two children, and live in California ..
Joe Legal works in construction, has a Social Security Number and makes $25.00 per hour with taxes deducted.
Joe Illegal also works in construction, has NO SSAN, And gets paid $15.00 cash "under the table".
Ready? Now pay attention...

Joe Illegal receives a $500.00 per month federal rent subsidy. Jose Illegal pays out that $500..00 per month, or $6,000.00 per year. Joe Illegal Still has $ 31,200..00.
Joe Legal pays $200.00 per month, or $2,400.00 for insurance. Joe Legal Now has $7,231.00.
Joe Illegal says, "We don't need no stinkin' insurance!" and still has $31,200.00.
Joe Legal has to make his $7,231.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, Etc.
Joe Illegal has to make his $31,200.00 stretch to pay utilities, Gasoline, and what he sends out of the country every month.
Joe Legal now works overtime on Saturdays or gets a part time job after Work.
Joe Illegal has nights and weekends off to enjoy with his family.
Joe Legal's and Joe Illegal's children both attend the same school. Joe Legal pays for his children's lunches while Joe Illegal's children get A government sponsored lunch. Joe Illegal's children have an after School ESL program. Joe Legal's children go home, to a baby sitter they have to pay for, so mom can work to help with the bills.

Do you get it, now?
If you vote for or support any politician that supports illegal Aliens...

Interesting!
-
One might argue about the numbers, but your point is well made.
-
Joe Legal has a good union job. But this list advocates universal scabdom. Under ideal BaptistBoard work conditions Joe legal and Jose Illegal will both be under bidding their neighbors in the race to the bottom.
-
Your life hidding at the bottom of the briar patch disqualifies you from entering into a discussion about the working world. -
How many scab carpenters you know that make $25/hour plus bennies working for someone else?
-
-
Well, in whose city do non-union carpenters make union wages? All you can do is bad mouth me. Lets have some data.

Shouldn't your union retirement dollars go towards hiring union labor to built that house instead?
That is if you were a man of principle. -
I am 100% against illegal immigration. However the OP is an over simplification. There are plenty of legal Americans that are a financial drain on society, and plenty of illegals that are financial benefit to it.
-
I think we could agree that most illegals though are a drain on our society (taxes).
You are definitely right about Americans who are a financial drain on us taxpayers.
A local talk show host said - It is the responsibility of all Americans to help those in need, even those who refuse to work!
Isn't it a shame that is now our philosophy :tear:
You don't work - you don't eat. -
My kid the carpenter and working people he has known for 35 years will build the house. It is a small town - Vashon, WA. - only accessible by boat or plane.
-
Editied because I looked up Vashon, WA.
A little misleading weren't you?
Vashon is very near Seattle and there are car ferrys.
The population is over 10,000
This is not some remote place in the middle of the frozen tundra.
So will the workers be union or SCAB? -
A car ferry is a boat. Did you also investigate the cost of commuting in time and money?
-
Will the SCABS be getting there by some sort of teleporter or something?
The cost and time for a SCAB worker to get to the jobsite is the same as it is for a union worker.
Again, will you be using union labor to build the house? -
billwald
Just kiding  -
>Will the SCABS be getting there by some sort of teleporter or something?
No, they LIVE there. I will be pleased to pay union wages. -
But it is the right thing for you to say, given your hundreds upon hundreds of off-topic pro-union posts.
But after your consideration of a shoebox prefab house because they are so inexpensive I seriously doubt that you are going to be paying union wages to non-union workers.
So what is the prevailing union wage for a rough carpenter in you area and what is the average pay for a scab carpenter?
How much more do you estimate that it will cost to pay union wages instead of the local scab rate to build the house? -
>But after your consideration of a shoebox prefab house because they are so inexpensive I seriously doubt that you are going to be paying union wages to non-union workers.
My Kid, the Builder, who does remodels for millionaires - his latest project is a deck that cost more than my house - says that Marlette factory made houses are better built than the majority of stick built houses these days.
This is The Wife's project, not mine. She can build anything she wishes. This will be our last place before we go into the old folks home.
Feel free to doubt anything you wish. I would worry if you agreed with me on most any subject.
