On June 25, 1950, the Korean War broke out when North Korea breached the 38th parallel line to invade the South, ending any hope of a peaceful reunification for the time being.
An Armistice was signed on 27 July 1953 - and since that time - there has never been a peace treaty.
Technically, Korea was not a was as no nation declared War.

It was called a UN police action. :)
So those folks storming the beach at Inchon were actually just eating donuts in their car. :)
I visited the memorial in DC, very nice. I had a friend who flew combat missions in "Sandies" (Skyraiders) over Korea from carriers. He said it was sometimes difficult to find the ship in the days before GPS. -
I do not if this is true, but it was certainly news to me:
"The Korean War was among the most destructive conflicts of the modern era, with approximately 3 million war fatalities and a larger proportional civilian death toll than World War II or the Vietnam War." -
My father was a veteran of the Korean War.
He was trained as a medic but spent much of his time in Japan assisting in the writing of a book on the regiment.
He did not talk much about his service.
Only when he was in his late 80’s, at a time when he broke his hip and was deeply medicated with pain meds, he talked about it a bit with me and my brother.
I also found letters and photos that he sent from Korea to his mother (she saved them and he kept them when she passed).
He admitted in the letters that he didn’t tell her about the bad stuff… even so it was tough.
He was honored in his later years when he was invited to take trip to Washington with other vets.
