Has anyone here attended Landmark Baptist college or are you currently attending there. I am applying but when I went to visit I didn't get a chance to meet any of the students to ask their opinions of the school.

I met some folks from Landmark, if you are talking about Mickey Carter's school. They are pretty much the same as you would find at Crown College or Hyles Anderson. I am not sure about their perspective on dispensationalism and those matters. They have strict requirements for students and are very aggressive in soul-winning. I dont know if I would call it "boot camp" but just be warned, you wont be able to break many rules once you get in. It's a serious set up for sure.

Thank ya'll so much for the replies.
I think a strict school is good. I looked at Crown for a while too, but I am at the point where I have to pay for my own schooling. Landmark has a good reputation and is cheaper (and closer to home).
My cousin went to Crown and loved it, she graduated 5 years ago, I think.
I do know that Landmark is set on the KJV which is great, and you can never go wrong with soul-winning.
Thank ya'll again -
Instead of going to a Bible College (especially one that is not accredited) why not seek a secular Bachelor's Degree in some field you have interest in, then go on to a good Seminary for your bible training? That way you will be more likely to get a good liberal arts education on which you can build the remainder of your academic life.
In my experience many Fundamental Baptist Bible Colleges are sadly lacking in academic integrity. -
I thought about that. In fact I have an A.A. degree from the local community college and was accepted to Florida State University, but I turned it down to figure out what God wanted. I am sure that I am called to His ministry and would like a good education founded on Him. I still am not sure what field God has in plan for me; my heart goes out to missions and feel that is a definite possibility, but what God wants is what I'll do.
Thank you for your concern, it is something that has been on my mind for a while, but as long as I am working for God and putting Him and His ministry first I have no doubt He'll take care of me.
(I have nothing against accredited schools, or secular schools...I am just searching for God's will and I believe that a school that is not accredited, but yet has men and women teaching from experience is just as desireable...besides why should a secular world determine the anything about a christian school) -
My daughter decided to do a year of Bible College before pursuing her studies at a secular college. It seems that she may be considering a second year of Bible college, now. Although they have strict rules, and are not accredited, she is definately growing in her Christian walk. I am so proud of her.

And, by the way, there are Christian accrediting agencies that are approved by the Department of Education that accredit Bible Colleges and Seminaries in the peer review process. TRACS is one such national accrediting agency.
May God richly bless you as you seek His perfect will for your life. -
Thank you

Well.... I attended new orleans seminary and there were no rules and surely not strict. I have always had a problem with authority and think it would be good to get myself under some GODLY authority. I kick myself for the path I took, and would have gone elsewhere if I could do it all over again. I did talk with Landmark and Tenn Temple was interested in me as well. I guess I am the nut here on this board because I am kjv and more conservative. I becanme tired of fighting when I was with the SBC and the IBF church I attended believed as I did. At this point, the crown college folks are who I identify with and I go to their camp for summer. All of us have different needs. I became tired of following people who were doing wrong and would be willing to follow a godly pastor like the one I have now. I'd go to crown or landmark before I went anywhere else. Those two would be first picks for me. I never cared, after leaving new orleans, about the accreditation issue. Dr. Bob, who I do respect, made some comments about accreditation and the point is what u plan to do with your degree. I looked at seminary as a way to learn bible and ministry, without any intention of 'using' my degree to get a teaching position or anything like that. If u know ministry is God's will, and preaching, not teachiung, is your calling, go where you feel is best and don't ever believe that accredited is always better.

Well...there are accredited options that are nearly as affordable and with greater utility. Having said that, I believe that Landmark got Steve Levicoff's seal of approval at the undergraduate level. For those not familiar with Steve (yes he has personal issues) he wrote a terrific book called "Name it and Frame it". It was a guide to/expose of Christian distance education. He was rather sarcastic with some of the mills in there or what he perceived as mills. Tough in general, for Landmark to get a nod from him is a big deal in terms of acknowledging its quality (at least way back when the book was written).

Well since you know a little about what Steve wrote, can you recall any of the schools that were listed as degree mills? Would be interesting to see what schools he had put down back then. And thanks for your reply, an interesting addition.

I have some friends who graduated from there last year, and loved it. They got married right after graduation, but she still teaches for the Christian school. While they attended they stayed excited about it. Nishoni says it's like a big family. She loved working in the church's nursery, going on visitation, and loved the classes.
I've read some things by the school's president and everything was docrinly sound, so no concerns there. From what I've heard it's straight Bible.
You should enjoy it. I thought of going here, but will be attending the one close to home. Only thing is, I still can't come home regularly! oh well! -
What kind of backgrounds do you come from that you want a strict college.
My daughter has been working since 14. She earns her own money, pays her own bills, is putting herself through college, loves the Lord and is attending Auburn University.
We checked out BJU together. She had to see it first hand. How in the world can anyone who is already responsible and loves the Lord want to go to a school that treats him or her like a child?
Just wondering?
If you are so gung-ho to witness, etc., why do you need rules to make you do it?
Living the Christian life is not about coercion, its about joyfully following him. Its also about becoming mature and making responsible decisions.
I don't see how that happens at schools that are "strict."
As for strict but accredited schools, why not check out MBBC, NBBC, BJU, etc. (schools that are seeking accreditation). -
I wish I could remember with certainty. Unfortunately, due to the information being outdated, Steve took it off his web site. He covered accreditation mills, ordination mills, counseling mills, diploma mills, unaccredited programs and accredited. Was very informative and since he did not care about law suits, he was outspoken.
Sad to say the Christian community is not immune to attempts to sell all manner of junk to them. This hurts the cause of Christ----not only people trying to sell junk degrees and counsling credentials but that Christians buy them and run around claiming to be licensed counselors or PhD's. What was funny is that one of the counseling ventures Steve mentioned that certified folks was developed and promoted by a guy with as I recall no accredited degrees (just a milled PhD).

It's not so much a strict school I'm looking for although I do not mind a strict school...I am working full-time and saving money to pay for my schooling as well. When I visited Landmark it was very small which is great and everyone that I saw seemed really close. I dodn't mean to come off sounding like I wanted a strict school..I think rules are good and they will help those attending the school from being openly tempted (make sense?). It's the difference between spaghetti straps and long sleeves to me (again, make sense?).
Anyway thank ya'll for your replys. I am going to go ahead and apply. -
Please keep us updated. Also..Cline.. when you enroll in Crown let us know how things work out. I am sure you will find it a challenge for the better.

sent off my application today.
