Over the last few weeks my laptop battery has only been going for about an hour or a little less whereas in the past it was over 2 hours. I have tried to use the battery about once a week and let it run all the way down and recharge.
Is there anything I can do to help it or is it just running out of life?
Thanks

Sounds like it's time for a new battery.
BTW, you shouldn't need to let the battery run completely out before recharging. For example, I've used the laptop I'm typing this response on for over a year and the battery always recharges back to 3 hours no matter how far down I let it run. -

Snoop around and see if you have any tools from the puter manufacturer. There may be a battery optimization program that may help. Also the calibration may be off and there may be a recalibration program. This is the method that the laptop uses to report to you how much power is left - it can get "off" for some reason over time and it recalibrates it for you.
You might be able to rebuild it cheaper if you are handy with soldering iron and tools. If you dont feel comfy doing that snoop a bit online and see if you can find one cheap. -
It may have gotten demagnetized. If so, take it to a battery specialist and they can remagnetize it for you.

put it in your fridge when you're not using it.

Once a battery is dying, you can't revive it. you can extend its life some, but it is a goner.
I'd be doing some Googling for a good replacement if I were you.
