    When government intrudes into private business matters that is a bad thing. We should let private interprize work and if Wal-Mart is not doing right, the free market will work it out in time.

    Was the Pure Food and Drug Act of 1906 and its companion Meat Inspection Act a bad thing? What about laws mandating safe working conditions?

    Mixing Apples and oranges. "Health insurance" is a new invention that has only existed since WW2. It was origionally conceived as "major medical" and paid only for hospital stays and emergancies.

    If "health insurance" then why not "food insurance?" Send your Safeway bills to the insurance company and food costs will drop, yes?

    Better yet, load up on groceries, swipe your insurance card and pay a $20 co-pay.

    Health insurance goes all the way back to the guilds of the middle ages. Certainly not a post WWII invention.
