The a priori assumption is that both candidates are evil. Both are sinners, but are both evil? Is there a line between pride, arrogance, buffoonery, borderline narcissism, on the one hand, and the approval of, and even the commending of, the violent murders of 135,000 babies every day? And culpability in the deaths of many, many persons?
The article? 16 paragraphs to not say anything. I could have said nothing in just one short sentence. "Nothing."
I agree with you that applied to this election the article takes for granted thatTrumps character should be applied to his platform. I'm terms of his character, however, the promotion of sexual immorality is a concern and I do believe it an evil that has not only destroyed the lives of many women, contributed to abortion, but also has torn apart families.
Think of the abortions that would never have even been considered if it were not for the type of sexual immorality that has become normal in our nation. Trump has contributed and profitted from immorlity that is directly linked to abortion, the decline of the family and the destruction of marriages.
The difference is character vs platform. Clinton is just as bad but she supports an evil platform. I don't think Trumps platform evil, I agree with his stance for the most part. The article did not prove character matters in politics.
I found the article interesting because of the principle, not because I believe we are there yet.
I believe that some take electing a public servant to govern very pragmatically. For example, I would choose an immoral atheist who is an excellent mechanic over a Christian who is a poor mechanic to work on my vehicle. The character of a mechanic may or may not play into the job, but I am relying on ability to perform a task.
Others believe that a character of a person influences the way that person will govern to an extent that the persons character plays into their platform (or the execution of that platform). For example, if a man is heavily invested in and profits from a business dependent on and promoting immorality then perhaps this will play into the decision he makes. They may hold a concern that a man profiting from gambling and sexual immorality, profiting from pornography and the sexual exploitation of women, may hesitate to take measures that run contrary to his convictions or damage his business interest.
I am between the two. I am anti-abortion, but I am also anti-pornography (I believe it to be a major stumbling block in our nation, in the lives of men and women, and in the development of the younger generation as we more and more become accepting of sexual immorality). I also do not believe that abortion and sexual immorality are unrelated. I believe that an argument against Clinton for being pro-abortion while supporting Trump is nothing but hypocritical, but an argument against her platform while supporting the GOP platform may very well be valid.
That said, I am willing to entertain voting for Trump this election based on his platform.
I would love to be able to vote for him. I want to vote for him. However, I cannot due to his immoral character. His political positions are in line with mine. His character means we cannot know what it is he will do.
I had a hunch that many Trumpeters would begin abandoning ship when the murderers of babies poured out their venom on/about him this last month before the election.
Get ready comrades for the coronation of our queen in January 2017.
Get ready comrades for our Marxist government to develop immediately after our queen appoints her first justice to the SCOTUS.
Yes, I know... Philippians 4:11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
It's just that it will be painful saying goodbye to the Bill of Rights.
Yes, I know... a gospel of fear ... blah, blah blah.
Don't know but it seems awfully quiet now.
Hopefully the quiet supporters are like me and not saying whether they will, whether they wont.
If it is that they won't then we will have our first woman president.
True but that is exactly what they wanted, in fact not even a rookie, a NON-politician.
Once primary season started all the polls had these three beating Hillary, up to the point they either dropped out (Rubio) or Trump had just about clinched (Cruz) or had clinched (Kasich). Any of these candidates would have run a better campaign than Trump and would have a united GOP behind them.
