"Today I received a message from a friend who has excellent connections in Washington and whose information has often been prescient. According to this report, as in 2002, the rollout will start after Labor Day, with a big kickoff on September 11. My friend had spoken to someone in one of the leading neo-conservative institutions. He summarized what he was told this way:They [the source's institution] have "instructions" (yes, that was the word used) from the Office of the Vice-President to roll out a campaign for war with Iran in the week after Labor Day; it will be coordinated with the American Enterprise Institute, the Wall Street Journal, the Weekly Standard, Commentary, Fox, and the usual suspects. It will be heavy sustained assault on the airwaves, designed to knock public sentiment into a position from which a war can be maintained. Evidently they don't think they'll ever get majority support for this--they want something like 35-40 percent support, which in their book is "plenty." "- Barnett R. Rubin

To attack Iran would literally be an act of insanity. We will very likely lose our nation due to the consequences that will follow an attack on Iran if the Bush administration and its enablers for such an action, such as Senator Hillary Clinton, are not reined in concerning Iran.
Just consider the consequences: Oil as high as $200/bbl., our 150,000 troops facing an uprising of millions of Shiites in Iraq, a likely regional war in the Middle East, the collapse of the U.S. and world economies, protests and violence confrontations in the streets of America similar to what happened in the late 1960s-early 1970s, inflation perhaps going over 20%, unemployment perhaps as high as 25%, etc, etc., etc.
Let's nip this, yes, nip it in the bud!!!!
Let's Stop This Insanity Before It Happens!!!!

"In my view, air strikes on Iran are inevitable, unless grassroots America can arrange a backbone transplant for Congress.
The House needs to begin impeachment proceedings without delay. These, in turn, could possibly give our senior military leaders second thoughts about unleashing the dogs of wider war.
Rabies shots recommended: for this time those dogs can, and will, come back and bite us.
Yes, some of us have been saying that for many months. The deterioration of the U.S. position in Iraq; the perceived need for a scapegoat; the continuing deference given to perceived Israeli security concerns; and the fact that time is running out for the Bush/Cheney administration to end Iran's nuclear program together make a volatile mix."

We don't have long to wait to see if this is just another CT, do we?
We at least have to see it there really is a "bud" before we "nip it". -

It's clear that Iran wants war more than anyone else. I wish the pleas to stop their insanity were as loud.
-
I have no influence on the Iranian government. According to the U.S. constitution I am supposed to have some influence on the government of these United States.
I suggest that the rational people in these United States should use our influence to stop the insanity here and that the rational people in Iran should use their influence to stop the insanity there. -

That's a good way to put it. I would hope most of America doesn't want war with Iran.

I think carpro was kidding. Cheney doesn't want war. He wants Iran to sette down. A little less "Death to America", you know ? America's leaders are not saying "Death to Iran". There's a big difference between the two countries.

I believe he and Bush will not allow Iran to go nuclear. And letting them go nuclear while threatening us & Israel is nuts. A person who wants all out war would let Iran go nuclear.
I'm not with you on this. Iran needs to stop their insanity, for the world's sake. If it takes us to do it, so be it. That's not wanting war. -
But what has the Iranian government done wrong concerning the nuclear issue? It has abided by the terms of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. -

Yeah, they certainly have put on another face, and they have settled the rhetoric, haven't they ? Seems like the pressure is having the desired effect, and war may be avoidable. That would be my best-case scenario.
But that's not how it was, even three short months ago. -
Don't confuse the stupid statements by Ahmadinejad, who has no real power attached to his office, with those who actually run the Iranian government. The Iranian government has been a whole better concerning remaining open on its nuclear research than the conservative media and the Bush administration would have you believe.

Can you tell us the last thing Bush has said about Iran ?
-
Why do you always view one side, the side that happens to fit your doomsday scenario?
(FTR, I am not saying we should bomb Iran; I am inclined to say we shouldn't but I don't know enough about the situation to be dogmatic.)
