Yes, ridiculous assertions are sickening.Sickening.
I agree. I have a friend who is a graduate of VMI (West Point of the South) and is now a retired Marine Colonel. His politics are so far right I tell him he is three steps to the right of Attila the Hun! He drives a Prius.(1) The big assumption with this post is that "liberals" are the only ones who buy electric/hybrid cars. That's blithering nonsense, although folks like Rush Limbaugh have been claiming that foolishness for years.
I agree again.(2) End users of manufactured goods are not morally culpable for the abuse of people by persons several times removed from them, especially if that abuse is unknown. Therefore the assertion that "liberals hate children" is a contemptible lie.Now that this issue has been revealed (if it is true), steps can be taken to solve this issue.
Yep.(3) Cobalt is used for many things - in aeronautics, metal alloys, stainless steel, and electronic devices. It is also used in large battery systems used in many places, including electric cars. If it is logical to blame electric/hybrid buyers for the abuse of children in Africa, then air travelers, users of portable electronic devices, users of stainless steel, and those who use buildings with emergency power supplies are also equally to blame.
Yep, again.(4) Those who use computers (everyone who is reading this), mostly use computers completely manufactured in countries that employ labor in difficult or terrible conditions. Even if the computers are finally assembled in the United States or other Western nation (including hobbyist builds), many of the components are created in overseas sweat shops. Where is the self-righteous, accusatory rant about all users of electronic devices?
Liberals push the hatred of children, "especially African children," like your thread title claims?Liberals push this.
Fossil fuels have environmental, social and political consequences. We need to be quite aware of that. We also need to look for alternative energy sources so we are not as heavily dependent upon them. The demonization of fossil fuels...
This result does not logically follow your premise....and the subsequent enslavement of children is on them.
My apologies. And I didn't get it from Rush. The source I used is hardly a right wing think tank.
Based on the titles of your thread and your doubling-down on your assertions, I doubt I can have a reasonable conversation about your assertions, so I'm not going to bother.Standing by it. Liberals want less minority children. All their work points this out. Minority children always suffer the worst from liberal policies.
Then why does the left constantly fight against the only present solution to burning fossil fuel? Nuclear Power? We also need to look for alternative energy sources so we are not as heavily dependent upon them.
It is the same as the Congo diamond industry. The consumer FINALLY took responsibility for the misery they were causing. Why has the mining of Cobalt increased exponentially in recent years? The only logical answer is car batteries. Liberals are the only ones pushing electric cars.Yes, ridiculous assertions are sickening.

Of course, this post is not about reason, logic or truth. Rush Limbaugh and others have asked their followers (who apparently don't think for themselves) to spread this story around to demean their political opponents. The posting of such tripe on a Baptist Christian discussion board demonstrates how far the popular American version of Baptist life has moved from the teachings of Jesus.
Yes, this is sickening.
You'll have to ask a liberal about that one. I suspect it has to do with the enormous and long-lasting consequences of a major failure at a nuclear plant, as well as their vulnerability to terrorist activity, such as someone flying a heavy aircraft or missile into the reactor core. Then why does the left constantly fight against the only present solution to burning fossil fuel? Nuclear Power?
While Fermi may have been right in his day, I think we have other alternatives yet to be fully worked through and implemented. As Dr. Enrico Fermi said, "Nuclear Power is not the best possible solution. It is the ONLY possible solution!"
So the customer was causing the misery? Hardly. Did people stop buying diamonds? Nope, they forced changes in the diamond market. It is the same as the Congo diamond industry. The consumer FINALLY took responsibility for the misery they were causing.
It's not the "only logical answer." Certainly that plays into it, but also the demand for high-tech gadgets and power battery backup systems for buildings and institutions (I work for a team that designs those systems). Why has the mining of Cobalt increased exponentially in recent years? The only logical answer is car batteries.
You need to get out more. High fuel prices and the appeal of high powered electric and hybrid vehicles push the demand.Liberals are the only ones pushing electric cars.
I have looked at electric vehicles. I have driven them.So the customer was causing the misery? Hardly. Did people stop buying diamonds? Nope, they forced changes in the diamond market.

Have you ever looked at a Tesla? They are QUITE nice and extremely speedy. Go to youtube.com and check out the Tesla drivers racing other cars on the drag strip. Car guys are discovering how fun they can be.
I bought my wife a Toyota Camry Hybrid because of the type of driving she does in the city. And I love to drive it too. When I was driving to and from West Texas last weekend, the car easily handled the 75-85 mph speed limits on the interstate with faster acceleration that most of the comparable gas vehicles. Not sure about the newly redesigned 2018 Camry, but the previous hybrid models have significantly more horsepower than the conventional gas models because you have the electric motor to boost the gas motor for increased acceleration. I was stunned how quickly I was able to accelerate from 20 mph on an entrance ramp to 85 mph so I could merge into traffic.
I know folks like Rush Limbaugh have been bashing electric and hybrid for years, but you need to check our the technology for yourself.
No. The containment on a Nuclear Plant can withstand the impact of a fully loaded Boeing 747.I suspect it has to do with the enormous and long-lasting consequences of a major failure at a nuclear plant, as well as their vulnerability to terrorist activity, such as someone flying a heavy aircraft or missile into the reactor core.
So far wind is proving to be a disappointment to environmentalists in that the bird populations are being decimated by the turbine blades. While Fermi may have been right in his day, I think we have other alternatives yet to be fully worked through and implemented.
At least the windmills are doing something good. Golden Eagle is in my opinion nothing but a nuisance.No. The containment on a Nuclear Plant can withstand the impact of a fully loaded Boeing 747.
The actual reason is that the anti-nuclear movement was funded by David Rockefeller. Chairman of Chase and board member of Exxon, successor to the family's cottage industry, Standard Oil.
Rockefeller did not want Nuclear Power to cut into the oil profits, so he funded anti-nuke groups to spread a lot of disinformation, and made a lot of contributions to environmental organizations to influence the left to oppose Nuclear power. He could not make a case for it being dangerous in and of itself, so he engineered the closure of spent fuel recycling centers forcing the long term storage of spent fuel, which then became the major environmental issue to so over-regulate Nuclear plants that, if your car was built to the same standard it would cost $5 million to build and $10,000 per mile to operate.
The politics of oil. Nothing more. Congress. Bought and paid for.
So far wind is proving to be a disappointment to environmentalists in that the bird populations are being decimated by the turbine blades.
California's Altamont Pass wind “farm” kills an average of 116 Golden Eagles annually.
There have been several reported cases of wind turbines killing the highly endangered California Condor (only 22 presently alive in the wild). But so far none of those cases have been confirmed.
Also solar is progressing, but still has some inherent shortcomings. Storage for periods of darkness and cloud cover can be very difficult, not to mention the moderating media in which the solar cells are immersed can be very harmful to the environment if spilled.
Not to mention cadmium (which was discussed earlier), arsenides, and previously mentioned liquids.
We still have a lot of work to do.
