I think that it matters not where you go whether to baptist or non denominational. As long as they uphold the Bible as the number one source. If they are upholding the Bible and are weslyan, I would say go. Just because it is a christian college or Baptist college, does not make it a good one. Look into the structure. Of the 4 that I attended I would strongly recommend Baptist Bible College in Clarks Summitt PA.

I can absolutely guarantee you that BJU does not consider itself "Southern" Baptist. It would be a close contest there in Greenville to decide who the Reverend Jones and his constituents hated more, Southern Baptists or Catholics. And believe me, it was open hatred. Southern Baptists were the great tool of Satan in America to destroy the true church (independent Fundamental Baptists, in their view) and dilute it so that people couldn't tell which was true and which was false. This was aggravated by the fact that the Southern Baptists in the area had a number of healthy churches, growing in number and "enjoying the favor of the people" so to speak, while most of the independent fundamental churches were declining senior citizen congregations. A number of IFB churches in this area have disbanded in recent years and BJU is not the public relations paragon of the community. Every student they could get from a Southern Baptist church they considered a major "victory". However, the definitely were independent, fundamental Baptist.
Students there fell in to two major categories. Those who were sent their by parents to straighten them out or shelter them from the world (which would have been me at the time) and those who were seriously interested in being there. I would guess that it was about half and half. Any kind of immorality, drug, alcohol or other deviant behavior was immediately available in abundance. You just had to learn the codes and the ways to avoid trouble.
Eventually, after some difficulty with credits (my Bible college stuff was unaccredited and didn't transfer until I found a junior college that would accept some things) I wound up at Wake Forest. Had I known at the time that it was a Baptist university, I probably would not have gone. However, it was a very pleasant surprise. I would say the students there were equally as "spiritual" and committed as any I knew at BJU. I didn't take any Bible classes, and never had much interest in the Christian activities, the campus church or the clubs, but the atmosphere there was a whole lot better than BJU and the quality of education was incomparably better.
Wake Forest did not lose any funding as a result of teaching "unbiblical" doctrine. Nor did it lose a dime when the church which leases its chapel for services performed a lesbian union (the university did not authorize or have anything to do with that ceremony). Wake Forest distanced itself from the North Carolina Southern Baptists years ago in order to be able to choose its own trustees and avoid the kind of takeover thing that has happened at a lot of other schools. Churches that choose to assist Wake Forest financially can do so through designated giving to the Baptist Convention in NC, or they can send the funds directly. The only connection between the two that still existed during my student days was a "fraternal relationship" which the university and Baptist convention mutually agreed to dissolve about a year ago. Various Baptist churches and organizations, according to Wake Forest's annual report, give about $5 million annually to the school, all of which goes back to students who are members of Baptist churches in the form of scholarships and student assistance.

You are inaccurate in a number of categories.
First BJU does not now nor ever did they ever hate the SBC. You have simply made that up out of your vitriole towards the institution. The issues with the SBC regarded the biblical doctrine of separation which the southerns and the independents view separately. This was far different than the issues regarding teh Catholics which were doctrinal in nature.
Second, there a number of independent Baptist chruches in Greenville that are growing and have been for a number of years. The SBC churches that are outgrowing them are doing so largely to their change in "worship styles." The IFB churches are largely filled with younger people rather than with older people, contrary to your erroneous indication above. Why don't you go ahead and name the IFB churches that have disbanded in recent years. I would be interested in seeing this list.
Your gripe with BJU does not qualify you as a credible source on these issues. Your personal concerns, while weighty to you, have colored your perception it seems. -
I did not see Crown College,Knoxville,Tn.,or,Clearwater Christian,Clearwater,Fl. how about Midwest Baptist Bible College,Pontiac,Mi.

ABC is nowhere close to being Baptistic. Although BJU is obviously not Baptist, It certainly is more Baptistic than Appalachian Bible College.
In fact, there are even several ANTI-Baptist instructors on the campus of ABC.
In practice Appalachian Bible College is an IFCA, Dallas Theological Seminary
Clone institution. -

You might want to add Baptist College of Ministry, Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. This school is a ministry of Falls Baptist and they had seven graduates this year. ;)

BJU may not be Baptist or Baptistic enough for some of you, but I guarantee you that one would be far better suited to attend it than some of the others you have mentioned (Baylor, Gardner-Webb, Appalachian, Wake Forest just to name a few). Do you seriously believe that someone could come from one of these schools and be better suited to handle God's Word and feed souls from it than if they went to BJU. Personally the guys I have met who went to BJU and are Baptist are very straight and Biblical, but hey keep arguing (discussing) you must enjoy it.
 -

Someone put Franklin college of franklin Indiana. This cannot be considered a Christian school, let alone Baptist can it?
My Husband went to Purue University, and his Fratenity there (KDR) would go to Franklin to help the (KDR) at Franklin and let me say that what he saw at the school, not the fraternity was an ungodly pit! Homosexuals having intercourse openly, drugs & alcohol, the works.
NO SHAME!
PLease tell me this school does not claim to be Christian any longer.
