While our athletes are adding an impressive number of Olympic medals to their suitcases, and bringing a sense of national pride, leave it to a "lie" or at least a potential lie/attempt to cover up an act of vandalism by four drunk swim team members to tarnish the Gold, Silver and Bronze those premier athletes have earned!

It is a shame that this scandal has come forth, especially after we were having one of our better Olympic seasons ever. Still, it should not surprise any American that something like this has erupted. After all, what has become of the wholesome America that once existed in a world that needed a nation they could look up to and count on to lead? When you look at the fact that we have a pathological liar (Benghazi for openers) running for office. A President who has difficulty telling the truth (where is the transparent nation, and the cheap health care where we can keep our doctor if we like them?); and a former president who told lies to protect himself from being impeached for having sex with interns on his executive staff?

The four lads in Rio have a poor example to look up to in its leaders, so why would it not follow suit that these guys cause a ruckus and lie to cover it up, if, in fact, the Rio police are correct in proving their theory of course? After all, when it comes to leaders who set an example and lead the way, "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!"

Yes, this is the new and improved America! A country of crooks, liars, and cheats! This is what the 2016 Olympics will be remembered for, not the large number of great athletes that worked hard to get to Rio and win with exceptional athleticism! And to me, that is a tragedy! A national tragedy to say the least! We need to repent. We need a revival! However, like many of my colleagues think, it may be just a wee bit late for America! I hope not!

What are your thoughts on this scandalous event?

Because of how athletes are treated, they tend to have a sense of entitlement that leads to anti-social behavior.

There are people whining that these pampered brats have to pay taxes on their winnings.
