Calvinism does not agree with the Father's heart for the lost. Love always thinks the best, and wants the best for others too. A child cannot understand Calvin thinking, it requires meticulous logic and intelligence to accept, it is not a simple theology for the poor. True faith from Jesus defies human logic and high intelligence. The gospel of Jesus is simple for a child to grasp and accept.
The Calvinist cannot have the heart of an evangelist with much sincerity. He may witness to the lost but his mind tells him there is absolutely no hope for some. Calvin witness' out of duty, not love. It undermines having any faith or love for that the person being witnessed to, that they can truly be saved. Even if the lost are convinced that Jesus is knocking at the door and they confess and believe, the Calvinist has to walk away with no surety of salvation for that person. "He might be saved, then he might not, only time will tell." The Gospel is ALWAYS YES AND AMEN. Not maybe, maybe not. There is no faith in maybe.
The Calvinist mindset destroys faith and love because there is no real confidence in prayers. The Calvinist has to look on their newborn babies with a degree of doubt. "This one may end up burning in hell for eternity, and I must accept that." What kind of mental attitude does this father have towards his child growing up? It can only be "I'll try but it might not be God's will for my son to be saved, or even succeed in life" That is not faith, that is maybe, maybe not. A farmer does not focus on a possible failure, he focuses on the hope of a full crop. The Calvinist has possible defeat on the mind before he even plants the seed. God wants to save the whole world, doesn't a father want all his children to be saved?
The Calvinist cannot let Jesus be the author and finisher of faith. A saved son or daughter may go astray, so the Calvinist father HAS to consider not going after the lost sheep because they may not be a sheep in the first place. That can produce a very unstable "why try" attitude. So what does the Calvinist do for surety. He must lower others so that he rises. he must compare himself with others and say" Surely I must be God's chosen because I don't live like this one or that one." The Calvinist must continually feed off perceived failures and lacking of others to maintain a confidence. This is why the Calvinist seems so nasty with an elitist attitude. By correcting and disqualifying others he gains a temporary security. He is only looking for a confidence and surety that his theology has robbed him of. The Calvinist must have a carefully chosen series of many scriptures that seem to fit together with seemingly deep and logical explanations for their confidence of salvation, instead of simply"I believe". We should pity the Calvinist, give them truth and love and just smile when they attempt to disqualify, they are only children lacking faith and confidence in the simple Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Question for you PNS, do you think Smith Wigglesworth (the man in your avi), if he were still kickin today, could lay hands on all of us horrible Calvinists, speak a word of faith, and open our eyes to "your" truth?
11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things
.
Paul did not say that.;
19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
.
.
If you are not a Calvinist...how would you know this? Can you show where any cal says this..or did you just channel smith wigglesworth for revelation knowledge?
Prove it....otherwise
your statement is useless.
wrong
what are you talking about?the verse in revelation was addressed to the church.
you have surety of others salvation?
so every person who professes faith is saved?
predestination establishes prayer.
.
why is that?
If God sends one of your children to hell...are you okay with it?
what does that have to do it?
where do you get these ideas...the bogus word of faith movement?
what are you talking about?
He wants to, but cannot...is that what you are saying?
every person is not a child of God.
Jesus is the author and finisher of faith....no one lets Him..He is.
The problem with all of that is that it is simple not from the scriptures though, as a calvinist would see God doing the very act of salvation, as NONE of us deserve to get saved, and yet God would Himself make sure some of us reprobates actually were to get saved!
And since a calvinist believes in the Lord ahving soveregn control over all things, why would we not have confidence in approaching God, to seek him to move and intervene then?
JDF, I'm having a real hard time figuring out Plain_N_Simple. He claims to be a Baptist and posts in the Baptist section, but his posts reek of pentacostalism and the WOF movement. Lets look at a few of the threads he's started over the years.
"No Gifts No Power"
"DeadRaiser Movie"
"Baptism In The Holy Spirit"
"Start Praying In Tongues"
"Supernatural Languages For Every Believer"
"Speaking In Tongues Medical Study Proves Holy Spirit Praying"
"Man Raised From The Dead"
"Healing Caught on Video"
"Nigerian Certified Dead, Lives Again!"
I could go on and on, but you get the point.
Maybe he's a bapticostal, who knows. He posts a lot about "Love". Maybe he's a Beatle (All You Need Is Love :tongue3:) Regardless, I don't think he's being truthful with the board about his affiliation therefore why would anybody take his posts seriously.
Did John Calvin love? No, he tortured and put to death those who opposed him.( So much for love your enemies) What a sweet gospel, that is another gospel. Look at the fruit man!:tonofbricks:
