    True, that really showed them...

That's like the guy who burned down the forest protesting using tree's for lumbar.

A blatant waste of a perfectly good automobile, if you ask me.

Uh- why did he not just get himself a "Yugo" ;)

or a "Citroen" to drive

or get a VW to torch, and just wait a bit for the price of gas to drop?

Or even sell the BMW to buy one of the above??

The car could have been gifted to a local abused women's shelter so that moms/kids could have had badly needed transportation around town or donated to a local car sharing program (such as zipcar, where people book car only as needed).

What a silly person to waste a resource like this where others' could have benefitted and environmentally irresponsible to boot!!

Don't get me wrong, I think this was a stupid act also, but perhaps this car was in really bad shape. Maybe it wasn't worth repairing.

I didn't read the article. But, I do know that in most places it is illegal to burn a car. Torching a car adds all kinds of pollutants to the atmosphere. Ok, I read the article and he may find his stunt more costly to his pocket book than the high price of gasoline.

Witticisms... How many do you see?

Unemployed man could not afford to drive his vehicle
He uses gas to burn his car in protest of gas prices
If he gets the five year sentence, he won't have any more gas price worries (Mission accomplished)

In the center of the article is a link to another article that says, "More car buyers weighing hybrids, survey shows"
