Ain't much difference between the two parties when it comes to stuff like this. The Republicans just have lived for so long off the "perception" that they are the party of morals and family values.

And often times, perception is people's truth.

The difference is not that both parties have offenders, the difference is the reaction by party members to this sort of a news story.

Democrat, after hearing Republican got caught: "They're all hypocrites! Christian conservatives parading around on family values then running around on their spouses. Disgusting!"

Democrat, after hearing a Democrat got caught: "Adulterous sex will not affect job performance. Besides, what happens in the privacy of the bedroom is nobody else's business."

Republican, after hearing a Republican got caught: "We're all sinners. I hope and pray that person repents and can reconcile with their family."

Republican, after hearing Democrat got caught: "Well, they have a rich history of this! The Kennedy's, Bill Clinton, Anthony Weiner, Eliot Spitzer, John Edwards, etc. It figures! You can't trust them."

The liberally-biased news media has a habit of ID'ing Republicans by party affiliation when they get caught but "forgetting" to include party affiliation when Democrats get caught.

Very true. The media is weird though. From my observations, I've often wondered in local news stories why they so often identify suspects as Black and Hispanic but they very rarely say if a suspect is White?

Often times? How about every time.

We live in a world where truth is relative and in some cases in this post-modern world of ours - truth is nonexistent.

    Ergo, perception IS reality.

That about sums it up. Humans remain humans no matter what political association.
Amazingly enough, people still seem surprised by that. It's been what - a few thousand years since creation?

That is what you want to believe. This type of broad brushing is a bit out of sorts for you.

Guys, listen. What he does in private is his business. If he gets conservative and family-value legislation through, he's doing his job.

Just curious, do you give Obama and liberals the same slack?

I actually agree with Aaron on this one. This was between the parties involved, not for the world to see. Dunno if Aaron was being smart alec or not, but it should have been dealt with privately.
This stuff happens. It always has happened, but unless he was confronted and refused to deal with it, it was dealt with shamefully. It only made things a million times worse when it comes to the families. They should have had a chance to deal with it privately. At least that much, and if people felt that it should have been made public because of his position, it could have at least waited until the families had time to deal with it for a bit first before it went public. There are CHILDREN'S LIVES involved here too, and that should be considered above the opportunity to hurt someone in an opposing party.

I don't care what Obama does in his private life. It is what he does in office that we need to end.

Do you give republicans or libertarians this slack ?

    No, you don't.

Just giving him the slack you gave Clinton, and there's plenty to spare.

Well, like I said before...this thread is very telling.

For the record, I could care less what this Congressman and his aide do in private. Pagans will act like pagans when they get the chance.

The bitter irony is this guy used a traditional values & marriage platform to get elected. He lied to the electorate and misled conservative voters. Of course all politicians do this. This is why politics is filth lucre. We will never change the world via politics. We can do that person-to-person through Jesus Christ.

I don't believe either party and add this to my stack of reasons why they are both liars who will do anything to get elected.

Don't believe I've discussed Clinton and I surely was not on the BB when he was in office ... don't know if the BB existed then. Morally Clinton was bankrupt. I'd never defend him on that. Just like the fellow in the OP of this thread it was totally stupid. No defense of either.

Now, are you going to give Obama the slack you want others to give this fellow?

Actually, I do care what Obama does in office, though apparently he does maintain family values, unlike Clinton.

    Puh-leeze!

You'd have posted every liberal talking point just as you do now. More than defend him, you would have mitigated his offenses, and indicted the Republicans and smear their efforts as a witchhunt.

Dude. We can see right through you.
