It's really bad. We need to pray for them and for Hawaii NOW. A friend of mine is on Oahu and they are under a tsunami warning that is supposed to hit this afternoon. They are evacuating to the mountains as this looks VERY serious. I'm praying for their safety.

Notice the photo of the collapsed freeway span? That's how we build them around here. One wonders . . . .

Notice the difference in casualty rate between Chile (civilized) and Haiti (tribal). Coincidence or cause and effect?

It's because Chile built many of their buildings to withstand earthquakes, so their infrastructure is more solid.

I can't help but say that Haiti's situation of corruption and lack of good infrastructure as well as their poor economy (all of those are tied together, of course) is partly spiritual because if you look at almost any country where animism and occult-magical practices are prevalent, you find yourself in a 3rd world type country. There are a few exceptions - Japan being one (despite its Buddhism, Shinto is prevalent).

This will probably get erased, but anyone else notice that the Chile citizens are mostly white people? Is there any "black" country in the world that isn't "tribal?" Any ex-colony where the people are doing better since the British pulled out? Is India the exception that makes the rule?

Chile was colonized mostly by Spain and other Europeans, so yes, it has a lot of Caucasians. However, there is a large population descended from inidigenous peoples and a European mix with that. My grandfather was from Chile - from a little town in the mountains above Santiago and he had this mix.

Much of Latin American outside of the cities - especially in the jungle areas - is not black but is indigineous (for want of a better term) and is tribal.

Shamanism existed in Russia (the word "Shaman" comes from a Turkish language group but originated in Russia). Shamanistic beliefs and practices existed in early Chinese history (Taoism developed from this) and throughout Asia. The Bon religion in Tibet was very occultic and oriented to spirits and gods (Tibetan Buddhism is a mixture of this and Buddhism, which is one reason Tibetan Buddhism is so different from other forms of Buddhism, though the Dalia Lama denies this influence).

How do you define "racist?" Do you know the difference between prejudice and discrimination?

Racism is the belief system that inherent differences among the human races determines cultural or individual acheivement.

BTW - white liberal racists never think that is what they are.
