Yes, he showed two African Americans and then lied about Raines being an advisor. Then he showed a pathetic looking old white woman. The implication, and this is subtle, is that black men are not to be trusted, that white women are in danger from them, and that only white people pay taxes. So, the subtle message within the ad ... which is not subtle ... is racist. Very racist.
Raines is not an advisor to Obama. That is the lie in the ad. Didn't you read the article? What makes it racist is the message contined by showing two African Americans with a message about corruption followed by the picture of an elderly pathetic looking white woman. And by using the two African Americans and Obama being an African American
the message is all African American men are corrupt and not to be trusted. The implication is so blatent that anyone with any comprehension can see the hidden meaning.
This plus Raines not being an advisor completes a very biased, false advertisement.
Yes, I read the article.
That Obama and Raines deny it after the fact does not suprise me.
Do you have any other evidence that he did not advise Obama?
Something prior to your starting this thread perhaps?
Or did you just run off and start this without actually getting the facts first?
BTW - I have evidence that Raines was advising the Obama campaign...
but I'm going to let you dig yourself in a little deeper first.:saint:
So the fact that they are black makes it off limits?
McCain didn't make them black and he didn't create their association and he didn't ask Raines to be Obama's advisor.
Elderly?
What is this? Agism?
Pathetic?
What makes her pathetic?
Her age? Her looks?
You seem to be exposing your prejudices yourself here.
If the facts are all true... then the "racist" message would be in the eye of the beholder.
Show me - other than Obama's and Raines's denials after the fact that he did not advise the Obama campaign.
And I will show you that he did.
BTW - IMO- anyone who uses phrases like "Banana Republic" should not be too quick to accuse another of racism
I wasn't accusing you of that in seriousness, CBT. I am simply pointing out how absurd your original argument was that this is somehow racist. The various ways in which people can distort something never cease to amaze me. I thought I would demonstrate the tactics you guys are using.
And George Bush hates black people...this "racially motivated ad" allegation is almost absurd.
I'm going find that fast moving vehicle to throw myself in front of now, i'm telling you it will be less painful.:BangHead:
CTB, I assume you post these things in an ernest desire to build support for Obama and that is your right but I would ask you this.
If Jesus Christ were in line with you at the voting booth and you knew He would view your vote (which by the way He will) would you vote pro-abortion or pro-life ?
Christ gave us pro-choice in that we can choose not to have sex.
This is not an issue of economy or age or race it is an occasion for Christians to say LIFE is precious.
I have explained a number of time that I am against abortion ... and why nothing will be done regardless of who is president. So, knowing that nothing will be done I have to look at other issue to determine who will do the least harm. I was leaning toward McCain until he picked Palin. But after reviewing her past and what I can make out of her temperament I am now leaning the other way. I feel she is a very dangerous person, does not matter that she is female, to be one heartbeat away from being president. I know others do not agree with me, and that is normal.
Also, I always had a great deal of respect for McCaink, always felt he was an honest person, for a politician at the national level. The way he and his people have run his campaign had, to me, completely tarnished him as an honest person. Now it could be that after the dirty tricks G. Bush used against him in 2000 that he decided that using dirty tricks is the only way to win a nomination and an election. If this is true it is a very sad era in American politics.
Also, there are a number of people who post negative threads about Obama ... seems to me there should be some time given to reviewing both sides.
In the four years since he stepped down as Fannie Mae’s chief executive under the shadow of a $6.3 billion accounting scandal, Franklin D. Raines has been quietly constructing a new life for himself. He has shaved eight points off his golf handicap, taken a corner office in Steve Case’s D.C. conglomeration of finance, entertainment and health-care companies and more recently, taken calls from Barack Obama’s presidential campaign seeking his advice on mortgage and housing policy matters.
You lack the ambition to check your own talking points. Your position is the racist one, my friend. We cannot tell the truth about someone if that someone isn't white, is what this comes down to.....
I am surprised you reference the Washington Post. Be that as it may, Raines himself says he is not an advisor to Obama.
Read the quote below, I did the bold for empasis:
I agree with you, should be equal time but all of the time spent should be on truthful, researched quotes.
Also you may be right about neither canidate doing anything about abortion but who will appoint Supreme Court Justices that may do something ?
