Nieto's approval rating in Mexico is 12 percent. 12 percent. There is no way he could meet His Orange Highness and survive. He's out, probably, no matter what. In fact, the only way he can survive is to push back against the Gringos. Trump might, in fact, do him a favor by making him a martyr.

And this is what American foreign policy has come to: We smack down our friends to make political points that are worthless. Nieto will be succeeded by an American hater who will poke Trump in the eye at every opportunity. That's progress in the Trumposphere.

    A pretty accurate analysis, IMO.

How much of Nieto's approval rating is because he is completely and wholly owned owned by the cartels?

Not much. He raised the price of gasoline and can't figure out how to deal with Trump's Ugly American smack-down. No Mexican president can allow himself to be disrepected the way His Holiness The Donald is doing.

And it appears president Trump will no longer stand for the U.S being treated as Mexico's personal sugar daddy.

    We'll see how it goes.

I predict Mexico will come to the table.
