I've been living here in the delta of Mississippi for five years. It sure isn't like Colorado, but it sure is "right down to earth". I love it here.
Mississippi anyone?

When I was hauling prisoners around the country I always loved stopping in or going through Mississippi. Law enforcement there were extremely friendly.

YAY for Mississippi! Its not real pretty right now, but the coast is usually nice. I am really an Alabama girl, but have lived in MS for almost 6 years. Its a great place to live - lots of history.

Would love to take the DH back there to where he grew up. There is a lot of history and a really wonderful historian I corresponded with online. Would like to meet him someday.

Born and bred in Brookhaven. Quite a few beautiful old homes there - at least there were last time I visited some 7 or 8 years ago.

I was born there, at the Columbus Air Force Base in Hines County.

I still have a lot of relatives in MS (on my Mom's side), and thankfully they all survived Katrina. I hope the coastal area recovers eventually.

Did anyone like Vicksburg?

Can anyone tell me what the weather is usually like the end of Feb. in Pascadula (sp--I think that's the place). My dh and I are hoping to go w/a group from our church to do some work on the homes/churches that were damaged from Katrina.
Thanks! -
Hi. Its Pascagoula. And weather is usually nice and mild at that time of the year. Right now its beautiful. Staying around 55, clear skies.

Spent most of 1989 in the Mississippi Gulf Coast area. This was in the BC era (Before Casinos!). I was there courtesy of the military to attend tech school at Keesler AFB in Biloxi.
The climate was great and so were the people.
How sad that many of them who live in that area had to suffer through the destruction of Katrina.
Our hearts and prayers go out to them.
This coming week another group from my home church in the Nashville TN area will depart for the fifth time to help some people in the Bay St. Louis area with clean up and repair work.
This is the kind of "faith in action" that James talks about, and I'm glad to be part of a fellowship of believers who want to help out these wonderful people. -
My parents live in the Laurel area....great place!!
