Who is it that is demanding that Romney give a speech explaining his Mormonism? The media? His Republicans colleagues? The Democrats? Mormons? Baptists? I dont understand what the big deal is. Let the voters decide if his Mormonism is an issue. We Americans have the tendency of talking out of both sides of our mouths at times. We yell and sream about separation of church and state and then expect a presidential candidate to explain his faith before he runs. I dont get it. Does Huckabee have to explain his Baptist faith? Hillary what ever hers is? I am not a Romney supporter, and his Mormonism will play a part in my decision but why does he have to get up and explain it? It wasnt an issue with the voters in Massechusetts.

It's what JFK did in 1960 when people were expressing reluctance to vote for a Roman Catholic.

If the choice is between a pro lifer who's mormon and a "baptist" who's a feminist pro choicer, the choice for me is clear.

If you are referring to Senator Clinton, she is a Methodist.

Religion in the Politician's life should be made public as well as his/her health, finances, family life and political stance.

I don't think anyone is demanding he do it. He probably wants to do it because of these kinds of sentiments:

(Bolding mine.) I think it's appropriate (though it shouldn't be legally required) for Romney to talk about his faith precisely because we the people do care about what our candidates believe.

Why not do your own research and show your like and dislike in the voting booth?

Because it isn't possible to understand a person's faith solely by their denomination of choice?

*Excuses himself for answering a question addressed to another*

*ETA: Also excuses himself for answering a question with a question*

Please show me where in the Constitution an American citizen running for public office has to explain his choice of faith. We all know he is a Mormon. What does he have to explain. That is what I want to know.

I'm assuming this is directed at me, since we seem to be the only two reading this thread at the moment. If not, I apologize once more.

    And...

Btw, Ps104_33, does it bother you he's voluntarily speaking on his faith?

FWIW, I would vote for a Mormon, atheist, you name it, if I agreed with the person's politics. I dislike Romney as a candidate but it has nothing to do with his faith.

Paul's energy policy in two sentences.

Sounds like the best plan I've ever heard from a politician.

So let the voters decide that based on presumptions and hearsay?

Being a Mormon has nothing to do why I refuse to even consider Romney. It has to do with honesty and being too packaged. When governor of Massachussetts, he was pro choice, pro gay rights, and pro gun control. Otherwise he would not have been elected in that state.

Now, by a divine insight right as he is running for President, he is pro life, pro traditional marriage, and the big time hunter. Baloney.
