Keep saying that if you want to. I go with the facts.

Yes I have. You merely don't like my answer, which bothers me not one bit.

Yes I am saying that: God is not evil.
Not a lie, just not meant to be taken literally. I say again: you can take all of the OT seriously or you can take it all literally, but not both.

Yes. I don't believe He murdered anyone.

Correct. Therefore God cannot order evil.
No, it was a command to commit an evil act; therefore God cannot have ordered it.
No, I am going off God's own moral standards. You are being illogical.

Or believe the Bible and leaning not on my own understanding of it.

God is love. God ordered the deaths, and killed on his own, millions of people. Both statements are true.

So Matt’s basic argument is nobody died by God’s hand in the O/T.

    Preposterous.

My argument is that God is not evil and does not commit evil acts. Killing someone is an inherently evil act, therefore God cannot (not just 'does not' but cannot) do it.

Likewise there is no logic in your statement

You are moving the goalposts. God is not evil. God kills people for his own purpose. He does not explain why to us. He is not evil and nobody has said he is. You are lashing out because your faith is so weakened you cannot trust God’s word.

How can you love still less worship a being who commits genocide? Why is this even a matter for discussion?! SMH

Because the Bible says he did, and he commands me to love him. Case closed.

God’s word offers no caveats for those unwilling to trust it. Quite the opposite.

Oh I trust God's Word...which is why I don't believe it says what you think it says; to believe as you do would involve an unsupportable contradiction.

According to whom ? You ?

    I scoff at that.

You don’t believe the Bible. You trust your own version of it.

God says he kills, and none can deliver any out of his hands. Several times. To say diffferent is to call God a liar.

    Back to the O/P.

    Europe is insane.

And anyone telling me God didn’t kill anyone in the O/T is not worth my time.

Start another thread for that. You’ve clearly lost this one.

That, and it’s my thread. I’ll post when I want.

I didn't know it was about winning and losing. What exactly is it that you think you've 'won' here?

You deny the literal plain truth of the text. You are hopeless. You tell me, what did God mean by "This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘I will punish the Amalekites for what they did to Israel when they waylaid them as they came up from Egypt. [3] 3 Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.’" ?

You are accusing God of Genocide. His word plainly tells is what He did.
Again, explain I Sam 15. I am sure you won't because you can't.
