:tear: :BangHead:

Feed the enemies cause - not a good thing.

Love the biker spirit but avoid their - want to be nice here - dumbness in not protecting their smarts.

I bicycle and wear a helmet - bike slid from under me one wet morning and smacked my head on the sidewalk - probably wouldn't have died but I sure wouldn't have ridden home either.

I ride a motorcycle, in fact, I'm on my way out for a ride now, and I saw this article. I always wear a helmet when I ride, it just makes sense to me.

I'm Sorry

But I cannot help laugh at that. I know it's tragic, but it's about like a guy telling how safe sky diving is having a chute not open.

Protective gear: Has anyone else noticed that Harley riders ride in leathers sans helmet; while Goldwing riders will wear a helmet while wearing shorts, sandals, and t-shirts?

Because of my faith I don't believ in protesting, but this protest was not about if it is safe or not. The protest is about the rights of the individual to choose how they want to ride, helmet on or off. This person died protesting what he felt was his right and I agree with him. If the person is of legal age it should be none of the governments business. I rode for years with and without a helmet and I always knew the risks. As long as what a person does has no effect on others safety there should be no law governing their actions. I can tell you this if we want to do away with freedoms, liberty and rights then just riding is as dangerous as you can get so if anything needs to governed it is the motorcycle and make it against the law to ride one if this is about protecting people from themselves.

Social Darwinism at work? The less fit eliminate themselves?

In general, should any major freeway be blocked for hours while the state patrol investigates a serious injury? Or should the road be opened once the injured and the wreckage is removed?

I totally agree it is about rights which are going down the tube but still not wearing a helmet isn't .... :)

In Portland if there is a death in a crash on the freeways they are closed, usually for at least 3-4 hours. Totally for the fun and use of the million dollar converted rvs called accident investigation or whatever they call them.

Then they should bann all vehicles ending all wrecks and always keeping all roads open.

I could go for a rider not wearing a helmet if he or she would be held responsible for his or her own healthcare if he or she is in an accident. If their is a head injury then the rider is not eligible for any type of tax payer assistance. Nor is the rider eligible for SS disability benefits. If a rider wants the freedom to ride without a helmet then we, as society, should be free from having to take care of him or her when hurt exercising that freedom in an idiotic manner. Same should go for seat belts too. If you don't wear a seat belt you are not eligible for government care if you are injured in an automobile accident.

Agreed and the same rule if someone is speeding even 1 MPH over the limit, texting or using any device while driving, changing the radio station, putting on makeup, just looking around at the scenery, arguing with spouse or children, driving with one hand on the wheel, turning without a signal, tailgating, or another thing that might be the cause of an accident.

My point is not what you try to make it out to be by far. The point is that several hours of investigation, tying up hundreds of people and man hours when it is really not necessary except in their eyes for the use of their equipment probably financed by the federal give-aways.

They have investigated accidents for years without these long tie-ups.

Every 18 wheeler accident is long hours so we need t ban 18 wheelers.

A ban on stupidity is what we need. :love2:

This accident reminds me of mans rebellion at God and His laws, and the end is the consequence, except in the spiritual realm it's eternal in consequence.

That would certainly touch everyone as I am sure you were speaking in the first person.

Exactly what is the purpose of investigating accidents? Satisfying someone's curiosity or doing work for the insurance companies on the public's dime?
