Murder in New York City

    Murders in NYC

    I was just at the polls for gun control, down south, and found this statistic for New York City while hunting for proof that mans ideas of how to fight crime will never match His power to turn evil for good.

    interesting post OliveBranch, things like this will occure more often I think as the end times draw nearer.

    Sorry, but I don't think anyone here will be seeing the end times any time soon. Chances are we'll mostly die old folks in bed.

    I dunno, pornography is generally of a sexually explicit nature.

    Rape is of a violent nature. Rapists tend to have a history of violent crimes (assault, theft, etc). Pornography tends to breed crimes such as prostitution, peeping, exposing oneself in public, etc.

    People are products of thier environments and sex becomes an addiction for many. If someone fosters a sinful habit such as porn, some will naturally keep feeding the addiction to the point where they lose control. Like many addictions, it takes more and more to keep someone stimulated.

    Hypothetically speaking, I guarantee you that if everyone in America did not view porn for one year, the total number of rapes would decline. How much? I'm not sure.

    You sure about that? I wonder. Seriously.

    That said, I have yet to see any even slightly conclusive evidence that porn leads to rape. True, many rapists admit to viewing and using porn, but that hardly proves causality.

    Probably not rape, but maybe a small drop in crimes like prostitution, etc. It all depends if pornography is the cause, or the vehicle that a sex addict uses. I wonder if there's ever been a study like this?

    I really think it plays a role. It's probably not as simple as man watches porno, man commits crime 5 minutes later. I think the effects are more subtle and hidden. The site below explains that porn increases sexual callousness and insensitivity towards women. In other words, it trains men to view women as nothing more than sex objects. Combine this with a selfish attitude and you've got a recipe for disaster.

    I can't seem to identify where the study came from, or what kind of organization it is. The url doesn't link to a main page.

    I'm concerned about the text which states that the biggest users of pornography is the 12 to 17 age group. That just doesn't sound accurate to me, at least not for the US.
