We didn't have a .300 hitter except for Billy last year and almost won the division. Had we not had a pair of dozen-game losing streaks during the season, playing .573 baseball like we did the other 138 games, we'd have won the Central by six games.
My bold, unabashed predictions for the 2014 MLB season

Not a great deal to ask in a season when we scored 648 runs overall. How many ground ball infield hits or bad hops ya reckon that adds up to? -
KC needs several bats, even though they get clutch late inning hits, the team average is too low to sustain a division win. Last year, the division was won by the best player in the dung heap. -
Too early for me to make any picks, but have some thoughts.
AL East - Padre wins the award for biggest homer on the board.
AL Central - thisnumberisdisconnected gets 2nd place in the race for biggest homer on the board. :wavey: This is only because padre's been around longer and he picks the Yankees even when it's obvious they'll be bad, like last year.
AL West - Seattle's going to wind up being the place where Robinson Cano's career goes to die.
NL East - The Mets win as the MLB team I hate the most.
NL Central - I thought the window was closing in Cincinnati, then they fired Dusty Baker. Addition by subtraction.
NL West - This division is where the surprise team of the year will be. They may not win the division, mostly because of Dodger pitching, but the Padres will contend for the wild card. -

Truth is, as much as I love the AL, Texas and Oakland are the only bright spots in a dark league.
I'd love to see Oakland win it all. -

Sounds like a good line up. If they can hit Tiger/Sox pitching consistently, and Moustakas has an on year.
I thought they were gonna hit the playoffs last year, for a while.

Ugh. You're right.
How many years have there been 3 divisions in the NL? After all these years, I still have this mental block that the Pirates are in the East.

Random predictions:
Philadelphia will be the surprise team, finishing 2nd in the AL East.
Boston will be plagued by injuries, won't make playoffs.
Robin Ventura will be fired by the White Sox, who will finish in last place again.
Injuries to Oakland and Atlanta's pitching staffs will be too much to overcome, will miss the playoffs.
Miami will not finish in last place in NL East, the Mets will.
The resurgence of Albert Pujols and Josh Hamilton will propel the Angels to the division title.
The Royals losing Ervin Santana and picking up Jason Vargas is not an upgrade. Hochevar is out for the year, and Bruce Chen will revert to his normal ERA of 4.50 and won't have another year at 3.27. That pitching staff is relying a lot on Yordano Ventura, a very promising rookie. Compare KC's pitching staff to the Tigers and tell me why they are better.
Might as well throw my picks out there:
Division Champions

AL Central - Detroit Tigers

Los Angeles over SF Giants
St Louis over Washington
