Rolf, I'm glad the Lord is blessing you. I pray it continues.
Padre, the Lord blesses us all the time despite our circumstances, but I don't have to tell you, "the Padre" that. :saint:
I feel blessed even though I been sort of down this week. :tear: School is approaching and I'm not going back. I retired. I was going to retire next year, but there were going to be some major shuffling around of teachers at my most wonderful school and I just did not want to make a major transition just for one year - so I retired one year early.
I am having some issues with my mother and our "role switching" that is inevitable. All of my bull-headness, I inherited from her. There are some pressing tasks that she and I MUST get down in order for them to start down-sizing their immense place. My dad is ready. She is not.
I plan on writing a couple of books and that undertaking - I'm not taking lightly. I haven't been able to sit down and write much this week and I feel it.
In fact, I haven't accomplished much at all this week and I hate days like that let alone a whole week like that.
But I took my handicapped brother bowling yesterday. He LOVES to bowl. My parents take him to a league once a week during the school year. So I've been taking him some this summer.
Yesterday he bowled a 163 and a 151 for his two high games. In the past he has bowled over 200 several times. Not bad for man who is totally blind in his right eye and legally blind in the other and who has an IQ of 70.
Me? I bowled a 55 and an 81 for my two high. :tonofbricks:
My brother, who also has a speech impediment doesn't talk much. For him to answer your question with a sentence fragment or a "yes" or "no" is good. For him to initiate a conversation is even better and rare.
Conversations with him are sort of one-sided.
Anyway, when I actually bowled an 81 and actually kept the ball out of the gutter for most of the time, he smiled and said, "That's good. You are getting closer to 100."
Now to explain to you how incredibly blessed I felt to hear that coming from his mouth - I can't express it.
The Lord is good.

I'm sorry to hear about the problems your wife is currently facing. I'm positive the two of you have had to deal with many things that you wish you didn't have to--but must do so anyway.
Thankfully, your wife is one who can still have a very good witness for Jesus with those that He sends her way. That says much for her Savior.
I'm also happy that you have a church with people who care deeply about the two of you....Sounds a lot like the one of which I've been a member for over twenty years now!
A good church like yours is sometimes hard to find any more, and I'm sure that having one like yours helps the two of you to maintain a strong faith in the Lord!
My week wasn't anything like yours.
The only thing I had to endure was having to go through my very first total colonoscopy.
I know that I should have had one probably a dozen or so years before this time. [NOTE: My birth year is the one you have in your BB name...So you can do the math to determine that I'm a few years older than a teenager!]
The procedure itself didn't seem to be as awful as I expected it would be. Of course I was completely "out of it" during the thing.
The only real complication I experienced was that for some reason "they" left a rather large pocket of air somewhere in my large intestine, and "forgot" to decompress the trapped air out of my colon.
Eventually I convinced them to do something about my very bloated colon. So....under the "gas" I went again so that "they" finally were able to suck the trapped air out of my, shall we say, the lower end of my colon.
It took me several hours to completely recover from the whole procedure, but it was a relief to finally get something more tasty to eat than that awful concoction of "Movi-Prep" solution I had to drink to "clear out" my colon!!
Anyway, I'm back on some much better tasting solid food.
And, getting back to how good it is to have a good church BEHIND [pardon the pun ] you, it was one of the deacons at my church who drove me to and from the outpatient medical facility where all this took place.
Thanks "Bro. Matt"!! -

Psalm 118:24 ESV
This is the day that the Lord has made;let us rejoice and be glad in it.
This verse is a challenge, can we still rejoice and be glad even if the day has been filled with struggles, bad news, set backs, etc? We should, because the circumstances of the day no matter our perception of them are still in his hands. -
If that's true (which it probably ISN'T!), I still wouldn't want to invest any of my hard-earned $$$ in a nationwide franchise of "Movi-Prep" refreshment stands!!
Give me some ice-cold lemonade on these hot summer days that we in Middle TN have, and I'm good to go.
As far as that "Movi-Prep" stuff goes, I'd tell you where you can put it, but since BB is a Christian forum from which I'd prefer not to be banned, I'll leave it up to your fertile imagination to figure out exactly where that location might be!!
Nope, getting old isn't as fun as some folks claim it to be.....but, OTOH, when you consider what the alternative to not having any more birthdays, maybe it's not so bad after all! :wavey: -
This is a fellowship forum, not a debate forum, but it got me wondering.
1) The Lord blessed me. ... He has blessed all believers.
2) My week has been good. ... The Lord made my life easy and enjoyable this week.
It's like saying, "I saw three red cars driving in a row today. Our Lord blessed me."
Is the amount of ease or pleasure we experience a measurement of God's blessing?

I'd be happy with that blessing.

On waking each morning, I thank God for the gift of another day. My week has seen me restoring ecclesiastical linens, finishing a mothering blanket for a friend expecting their first child, being able to enjoy real food again.
I would have preferred not to fall over twice in the week.
