I woke up about 5 a.m. on morning & wrote this hymn - had to get up & write it, then went back to bed. I revised & completed it subsequently.

Feel free to use it, & if you do, let me know, & include on your copyright returns.

Repent and be baptised
and trust the name of Jesus.
The Gospel call comes clear,
He loves & saves and frees us.
Believe with all your heart
He is the Son of God;
your sins are washed away,
cleansed by his precious blood.

The Spirit shows our sin
as guilty cov'nant breakers;
we must be born again,
He'll cleanse, renew, remake us.
Redeemed & saved by grace;
buried & dead to sin;
and raised to life in Christ;
we live new lives in him.

The Father calls us his;
his children by adoption.
The water speaks of blood -
the price of our redemption.
The children of his love;
joint heirs with Christ, God's Son
one family in Christ;
with all his people one.

Reborn, renewed, restored;
eternal life before us.
Christ walks with us each day
till he to glory calls us.
Then we shall see his face;
be free from all our sin;
this Paradise is ours -
repent and come to him.

What if we find only 99% of our heart believes and our stomach is agnostic? [emoji41]

Of course I kid.

It is an excellent exercise to pen our theology and convictions. Nicely done.

I can think of a large swath of hymns in pews today that are cringe worthy.

Ian, I enjoyed your hymn. I enjoy trying to write hymns (and music as well). Once in awhile I may put together a few lines that soar, some are ok, and most might classify as doggerel. You maintained a good balance through four 8-line stanzas. Very well done.

A young Indian friend, Kiran, we've known from a baby will be baptised Sunday. She's married to a Sikh but they attend a good baptist church.

Mostly modern songs, and none about baptism.
A blessed occasion, with opportunities to speak with her brothers, and the husband of another of our youngsters.

A baptism service this morning - in Peterchurch Church of England - of a baby.
Usually about 20 elderly.
About 80 including young families. Chatting to a Baptist lady who lives locally. She said they were all badly taught - she had had her children baptized before she was born again.
