There you go assuming again. I am not making an issue out of it because Jesse Jackson is, I couldn't care less what he thinks. If you are referring to my previous posts, then you will know I was answering YOUR question of why he is looked up to as a leader in the black community. I never once said I did or did not support him. You have no idea what my political leanings are, besides the fact I am not a Democrat or a Republican. Secondly, as I have said before, no matter what race (i.e., white, black, etc.), they are NOT refugees, they are American citizens. If you were to actually look at the definition, instead of trying to argue with me, you would see that they CANNOT be refugees. Lastly, even our REPUBLICAN, CONSERVATIVE President has said they are NOT refugees. Like I have said, and will say again, I was pointing out that the term is offensive to some. As Christians we should not say something that will knowingly offend someone else, unless of course we are preaching the Gospel. The last time I checked the term refugee was not a part of the Gospel.

I misspoke myself, but I'm still right. There was food and water at the SUPERdome.

No there was not. The people were told to bring their own supplies. The city of New Orleans, said that they were not there to feed the people, just to keep them safe. How ironic.

The Superdome was a shelter of "last resort", so to speak.

FP, I think we have been through enough together now to trust each others sincerity and good intentions. I did not say you said it becaus of Jesse, did I? Rather, I said neither one of you would be pushing it if it were a city full of whites.

I am sorry your Moma, and Papa, and friends never told you. But you are a democrat. (now that is a joke, so laugh with me [IMG] )

Christians nor anyone else can get along very well in a world were silly people are offended by silly things all the time and insist on taking offense at the slightest thing.

Before the storm, FEMA had dropped off 90,000 liters of water and 43,776 meals ready to eat at the Superdome, a place neither the state of Louisiana nor the city of New Orleans had planned to stock with food or water.

Congratulations, pnut. From what I can find in researching this on the Internet, you have apparently actually posted something that is factual.

    My compliments. [IMG]
</font>[/QUOTE]Except the fact that DG is British held. Oh well.

Or maybe just the ones who can afford flood insurance, if they can even get that in the next five years. After Andrew, there was a moritorium on all insurance for homes within 1000 feet of water. Kind of put a big crimp on those of us living directly between the intercoastal and the Atlantic.

Makes FEMA look like they actually did something right. We can't have that, now can we? ;)

I wonder if the incident in New Orleans will be a huge opportunity for the casino owners and other like them to rebuild and acquire land at a much cheaper rate.

The wealthy are the only people capable of taking charge. That's why they're wealthy. May God deliver us from any society where the poor are in charge.

The cold hard facts are that the Wealthy and even the Middle Class are the only ones who have the resources to build a city.

Drats! Now Oliver stone wont be able to make that movie about the white, repubican, FEMA, industrial, disaster complex's conpsiracies' to take out the projects of New Orleans with a CIA secretly planted levee bomb. And Jessie Jackson would have made such a good "deep throat" too. [IMG]

Precisely. I do not recall Jesse Jackson or his cronies showing up in Houston after T.S. Allison flooded the city to complain about the many white families, including my own, which had been flooded and lost our homes.

Could it be that Jackson is not quite so enamored with helping people as he claims to be? Perhaps if my skin tone were a little darker? I guess I, and others like me, just don't matter to Jackson and his friends.

    James

    P.S. Squire,

Houston, Houston, Houston, Houston, Houston, Houston, Houston, Houston, Houston.

There is an "O" before the "U". Sorry, that's just bugging the heck out of me. [IMG]

New Orleans will have to be rebuilt. All the inland rivers flow into the Mississippi. The Mississippi empties into the Gulf of Mexico at New Orleans. No matter how precarious the location, a city at that point, keeping this shipping harbor open is imperative not just for the United States, but for many other countries who depend on our food. New Orleans is busier than Los Angeles, San Francisco, or New York when it comes to import and export. It is vital to us.

So it will have to be rebuilt. There will be jobs there -- lots of them. There will probably be a much larger working class there, percentage-wise, than before, as the people, no matter the color, who have been enslaved by being made dependant on the welfare system generation after generation, will have been resettled in other parts of the country -- still dependant on the welfare system...

The entertainment will be there, the work will be there, and the corruption connected with both will definitely be there as well. The casinos will come back and they will do their part to make sure a whole new population of people on welfare are ensured.
