Yeah, but that is okay because Carlos Slim did it--well, no it is disgusting and only a New Yorker would buy a yellow paper like that.

Now try doing that with any Democrat leaning darling and see what happens. No doubt the hypocrites would be up in arms demanding someone's head, especially Trump's.

Tom Clancy published a novel where the President, almost all of Congress, and most of the Supreme Court were killed in a terror incident. Would you like to also claim he was filled with bloodlust because it created an opportunity for him in the next novel to recreate the U.S. government according to the way he thought it should run?

So the Fake News is just selling fiction nowadays. We all should shine Mexican Carlos Slim's shoes.

Well, the Slimes was just indulging in liberal fantasies. They asked five novelists to write an ending to the Mueller investigation and this was one of the stories, what they would call "a best case scenario" and normal people would call assassination porn.

Tom Clancy never did that and he didn't use real life people. One is a novel, the other is a violent fantasy masqueraded as a story. There is a difference between the two.

Are you saying that he clearly aimed it at an existing administration by naming names with political intent? If so, then, yes, his writing in that case would fall into the same category. If not, then your response is a non sequitur.

No, not an existing administration. But yes, there was political intent. Clancy had a strong political viewpoint in his writing. I enjoyed his major novels, especially the earlier ones where an editor could control his impulse to be overly verbose.

The New York Times asked fiction writers to write fiction about the resolution of the Mueller investigation. If the suspicions that Trump is being manipulated by Putin are correct, then the President's life might well be in danger from the Russian government. The recent poisonings of former spies are a signal to the enemies of Putin not to cross him.

For the record, I think it is an extremely poor idea to run a piece like this, although these works were likely commissioned months ago. But in the charged environment we are in today, the New York Times should have killed this piece.

By the same token, it wasn't that long ago when I alerted the moderators to a post by one of our regulars where he suggested that a number of Democratic icons should "be shot." A number of the regulars here contributed to the thread without publicly raising objections.

Secret Service Calls Out New York Times’ Trump Assassination Porn

The United States Secret Service may not have a perfect reputation, but there’s one thing the agency won’t tolerate: Being a part of an assassination attempt against the President of the United States, even in a work of fiction.

A spokesperson for the Secret Service told Fox News on Friday that a fictional account of President Donald Trump’s assassination, which appeared in The New York Times, was “outrageous.”

“While we understand this is a work of fiction, the insinuation that the U.S. Secret Service would participate in the assassination of a president is outrageous and an insult to the men and women of this agency,” the spokesperson said “The U.S. Secret Service prides itself on being an apolitical agency with a long and distinguished history of protecting our nation’s elected officials.”
