And NOTHING in all that says anything about someone else being able to track something in our home. Once it's out of the store and out of the package, it can't be tracked.

Most of that likt talks about rf tags being used to track inventory WHILE IT'S THE PROPERTY OF THE STORE. A store using technology to manage its own property is not big brother.

So far, this appears to be the same hype and furor when debit cards were in development. Anyone remember the furor among fundamentalist circles about a "cashless" society being the precursor to the end times? Some went so far to say that debit cards were the mark of the beast, wince we'll all be required to carry them. I don't know about anyone else, but my debit card is hardly "cashless" I have the bank statements to prove it

. The only thing "cashless" right now is my savings account

I wish some people would stop looking for reasons to hate them.
FearNot: I am not looking for reasons to hate Wal-Mart. It's the only place in my town to shop. My article was against the 'tags'.

John: It's NOT what the tags are capable of doing NOW, but what they MAY be capable of doing in the FUTURE that concerns me. Wal-Mart and others may be using these 'tags' in a pefectly legitimate way. That doesn't mean that 'Big Brother' will.

Like track your every move and alert the Wal Mart squad if you step foot in Target or Kmart.
Then they'll track you down and take you into their interrogation room and make you confess to collaborating with the enemy. It might get ugly. ;)

I Am Blessed, here's something fun for you to do. Go type the words
Digital Angel
into your search bar and read all about it.
We have bigger things to worry about than Wal-Mart!

There is nothing that walmart can think of to do with these tags that "bigbrother" doesn't already know. We had the stealth submarines for 10 years before releasing that knowledge to the public, and the stealth bombers years and years before that. I dare say that walmart could not imagine all the possibilities that the government probably already knows. If "bigbrother" and his black helicopters wanted to track us, they can and they won't do it by a pack of razors. During the cold war spys listened to conversations in buildings by the vibration of window glass by voices. There comes a point in life where you have to stop looking over your shoulder for someone spying on you. If Walmart, the police, or the federal government want to listen to me talk to my friends about going out to eat, that is fine with me. It would just show how bored they are. Nothing in my life is interesting enough for them to plant a bug in my razors.

Although I most certainly do care if "they" listen in, no matter that I have nothing to hide (but hey, I oppose the Patriot Act, too), you're so right about "them" having had it far before we learned of it. You can drive youself crazy about things like this, really. I mean, we can go in circles about "well, if they were going to use it for bad, they wouldn't have even told us about the technology," and "but, now that they've told us, we'll think, 'hey, they wouldn't have told us if they were going to use it for bad,' so now maybe that means they will use it for bad!" and so on. Anyone remember the battle of wits from The Princess Bride? That's what this feels like.

One cannot have a battle of wits when the opponent is unarmed

Again the RF tag is attached to the product packaging. Once you have removed the packaging and thrown it in the trash the only thing that someone tracking it would be able to tell is the location of your municipal landfill. Besides that the only way to scan these tags is to be within a few feet of them.

John is correct all the little discount shopper cards, which we so readily use, supply much more information about our purchasing habits than these RF tags will provide. Right now I have a Winn Dixie Customer Reward Card, Lowes Foods Rewards Card, Food Lion MVP Card, Kroger Plus Shopper's Card, and a Blockbuster Rewards Card on my key ring. Each of these retailers tracks the purchases that I make and uses that data to create a shopper profile for me. Then they use that profile to market products to me via mail with additional in store discount coupons. Plus they make this data available to their manufacturers/suppliers (for a fee of course).

My point is what are you all so concerned about? Do you think that this type of technology is heralding the coming of the end times as outlined in Revelation and Thessalonians? If so you should be rejoicing that the Second Coming of our Lord is approaching. It is not a reason to be afraid. If this is the case, and you are attempting to fight against what the Bible has prophesied will happen, you are in fact fighting against God. I say even so come quickly Lord Jesus!

I sincerely hope that you all are not attempting to link this technology with the mark of the beast. The mark of the beast will not be some indistinguishable trick of technology that Christians will unwittingly have placed upon them because they purchased a product with RF tags. I believe the mark of the beast will be a clearly visible physical mark that people will knowingly and willing accept (or reject). It is certainly not going to come attached to a package of razors from Wal-Mart!

I'm not worried about the mark of the beast. I will be gone long before that takes place. I DO believe all this technology is leading up to fulfill prophesy though.
