It is my personal opinion that it is those who can't, or won't, see the incompetence exhibited by President Bush during the past week who are at least somewhat delusional. I think they are allowing political loyalties to cloud their judgment.

I don't see President Bush resigning and since the Republicans control the Congress I don't see him being impeached, and I seriously doubt that he can be shamed out of office.

No, although the congressional investigations and such will be interesting.

I don't think he did anything worthy of resignation.

I don't even think he was incompetent. He was just missed this one big time. He seemed to still be in a holiday mindset when it hit. I think he was simply asleep on his watch.

I am sorry I did not clarify that I was talking about the mayor of NO. I just saw him say on tv that he wants heads to roll. I just wonder if anyone will want HIS head to roll.

    For your own information:

I am loyal to God, my family, my friends, and my country.

Any politician or political persuasion, if they are there at all, are a considerable way down the list.

Politically, I am fiercely independent, admittedly conservative and have a tendency to defend one who is being piled on. I also defended Clinton against the mysteriously dead people nonsense and the drug ring in Mena baloney.

I voted for George Bush and have never regretted it. I did not defend Kerry and never will. You can pile on him til the cows come home. I have a very low tolerance for traitors.

As for the hurricane issue, if you'll remove the log from you own eye, you will realize the president, personally, did everything the law allowed him to do. I have seen no indication that you are one of those who believes in obeying the law only when it's convenient. I see the same thing in President Bush.

When it comes to obeying the law or saving lives, I choose saving lives. Save lives and then issue apologies later on about anyone's toes who were stepped on. It's better than allowing people to die who could have been saved and then issuing apologies later on because something wasn't done to save lives.

Carpro, I don't know what else the president could have done that he didn't do. But there ALWAYS has to be someone to blame.

Now there is talk of setting up a fund for the victims like was done for 9/11. I just find that unbelievable for the fact that they live where hurricanes frequent during the 6 month season. There is also insurance. If they didn't have any I do NOT see why tax dollars have to go to them. Also, they could have left.

I know that I am gonna be slammed for thinking this way. But I DO have a right to my opinion as do others that think differently than I.

If you start giving out funds for natural disasters it will NEVER end. Will it be retroactive? No one last year in the four storms here in FL got a fund set up for them other than FEMA. And those in NO will be eligible for that. Then you will have those that suffer in earthquakes, mass forest fires, tornados, etc. It would set a bad precedent.

Now let me get my hardhat on cause I feel that there will be a ton of bricks falling on me soon.

Because this is an American tragedy and we are all in this together.

Besides, if we can spend hundreds of billions of dollars on Iraq and other foreign countries I see no reason why we shouldn't be helping our own citizens.

No one in the government set up a fund for them. I know some that had lost everything.

Then complain to El Presidente about it. His leadership was apparently not any better last year than this year.

You cannot control nature, and I do not blame the president for this. Besides, there were natural disasters during the term of other presidents. Is that anymore their fault than this is Bush?

The flooding of New Orleans is a man-made disaster. It was preventable. It didn't have to happen.

That is true, but I have NEVER in my lifetime seen thousands of people herded together in public shelters after a disaster waiting for days for FEMA to bring food and water...until now. There is no excuse!

No, I expect him as the head of the federal government, including FEMA, to have provided leadership as soon as the hurricane cleared the area on Monday. He failed to do so. No one can deny that with any degree of seriousness.

    Ken,

Perhaps you missed my question (or I missed your response) so I'll ask again: You seem to think that the President and FEMA have been sitting on their hands this whole time. And you base that on what, that you haven't been on the inside of the response? What exactly would you have had the President do that you know he didn't?
