Obama Union Rules
A federal agency rips up 75 years of labor policy.
The National Mediation Board, which oversees labor relations in the air and rail industry, this month moved to overturn 75 years of labor policy.
The board plans to stack the deck for organized labor in union elections.
Under a proposed rule, unions would no longer have to get the approval of a majority of airline workers to achieve certification. Not even close. Instead, a union could win just by getting a majority of the employees who vote. Thus, if only 1,000 of 10,000 flight attendants vote in a union election, and 501 vote for certification, the other 9,499 become unionized.
This radical break with precedent is the handiwork of President Obama's appointees to the three-member board: Harry Hoglander, once president of a pilots union, and Linda Puchala, former president of the Association of Flight Attendants.
The board got a request to adopt the jerry-rigged voting standard from the AFL-CIO in September. Without a hearing or invitation for preliminary views, the Obama duo drafted the AFL-CIO demand and published it in the Federal Register. It's now subject to a 60-day comment period, after which Ms. Puchala and Mr. Hoglander will no doubt vote to inflict it on all the nation's airline and rail carriers.

At least it is consistency. Here in the Salt city mayors election, only 31% voted in the three man race. Stephanie Miner won with 50.1% of the vote. Thus 16% of the city decided who our next mayor would be.
If anything, this should be a wake up call for for those who might be in this situation, and even for current union members - if you don't vote in your union elections - then don't complain. As Glenn Beck says, he doesn't have a problem with union members, it the union higher ups that often are the problems.

I know of men caught in a place of work, that had a union vote, rather than put up with all the verbal stuff and pushing if they were not for the union just stayed home and didn't vote and that counted as a no vote. That sounds good to me.
Again he is leading us in a direction that I don't wish to go and believe it is wrong for our country. -

And then there's the way it was done:
-
For the most part on the last three election for president and the last for governor I have stayed at home, I voted independent for president and didn't vote for anyone for governor. But on a job actions I think to vote in the union or vote one out there should be 50% plus one at least to get the job done.
For city, state or federal elections I think we can get by with what ever percent votes and pick the winner from that. To many don't care and even some don't know what they are voting for or against( maybe they should not even vote). -
>Sometimes we have to stand up and do what is right.
A secret ballot is not "standing up." It is going into hiding. -
In a situation where your supervisor can intimidate you if you do not vote "his" way or other similar situations.
That is the reason Army Regulations prohibit certain political activities.
In the general population, I have no problem with people knowing how I vote.
