Obama's Indecision Could Cause Higher Gas and Oil Prices!

The U.S. uses 20 million barrels of crude oil per day. This pipeline would bring in 700,000 barrels of oil per day, or 3.5% more than current usage.

Meanwhile, North Dakota's oil output has reached almost 450,000 barrels per day, twice the amount they were pumping in 2008. Estimates have North Dakota crude reaching 700,000 barrels a day by 2015.

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/10/15/north-dakota-likely-to-pass-california-as-top-oil-producer/

So the U.S. has been increasing the amount of oil it produces via North Dakota wells. Have you noticed an easing of gas prices? How about increased employment (outside of N.D.)?

Should I write a note to Obama next time I fill up?

Everything we have.

Including nuclear?

Doesn't the prospect of an earthquake in proximety to a nuclear power plant worry you?

Hydro electric? What if an earthquake breaks the dam?

Or is it only earthquakes and pipelines that cause you concern?

No, but I could chose to avoid nuke plants if I did. Unlike many Christians, I'm not afraid to die. It is much more probable that I will be killed by a bus, a drunk driver, or lightning.

Why do you people back east worry about Earthquakes? When the big one hits Seattle it will probably take out every building except the Space Needle. I don't lose any sleep over it. I've been "threatened" with it for 50 years. In the mean time I Have been living in the best place in the lower 48.

On the other hand, live in states where tornados take out entire towns every year? I'm not THAT crazy. If I had to live back there it would be in an underground house 200 feet above the high water mark.

One would think that a MENSA IQ would grant one the ability to recognize the topic of a discussion. :rolleyes:

I find the usage of the words "President Obama" and "decision" in the same sentence strangely and sadly humorous.

The issue is not how rare it is, but that it can happen and if it happens over an aquifer it can be total disaster. Moving the line is the wise choice not trying to convince everyone how safe the pipe is.

Well let's see you seem to be concerned about an earthquake and an Aquifer.
We must need to try and stop God from bringing this how do you propose to stop this:

Revelation 8:7 The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.
8 And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood;
9 And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.
10 And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters;
11 And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.
12 And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise.
13 And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound!

God already has said these things will happen to the earth. You seem to think a thing as safe as a pipeline will hurt the earth, worse things are coming and we can't stop them.

Man needs to be a good steward of the earth while using the resources God gave us and the knowledge He gave us to use them wisely. A pipeline is wise and cheaper than truckeing or barging the oil to the US.

Not sure what the type of pipe or schedule would be but let's say they used a 16" pipe which is Schedule 120. That would make the pipe thickness 1.29" thick if it is Carbon Steel then that is alittle soter in brinnell hardness but it could withstand the shaking. If it was standard wall .375 or 3/8" thick, Xstrong would be .5 or 1/2" thick these would possibley. Before the determination could be made as to whether a pipe could or couldn't with stand an eartquake one would need to know size, schedule and material type.

If God wants to bring an earthquake so be it, but that does not mean we have to be fools and build where the quake distroys the water supply.
