Pink slips being printed as Congress vacations, defense industry likely to cut thousands of jobs
Hundreds of Pentagon-related companies large and small are preparing to lay off thousands of employees as Congress takes a recess this week, so far unable to agree on how to undo automatic military spending cuts set to begin March 1.
BAE Systems Inc., a global giant that provides an array of goods and services for the military, estimates that it will have to lay off as many as 4,000 workers this year, including technicians who work on aircraft, ships and vehicles and who earn an average of $50,000 a year.
Meanwhile, Ammcon Corp. of Portland, Ore., which makes pipe joints and flanges for aircraft carriers and submarines, says it will have to lay off about 25 percent of its 45 employees if the defense spending cuts begin March 1.
These and other defense contractors are bracing for automatic, across-the-board spending cuts known as sequestration — which could lead to as many as 1.2 million lost jobs, according to an estimate by Stephen S. Fuller, director of the Center for Regional Analysis at George Mason University.
Obama's sequestration will kill over 1,000,000 jobs

I'm a Federal employee who is facing a possible furlough if this thing comes to pass and I'm OK with helping to fix the spending problem eventhough I will lose 20% of my salary. I'm wondering will Congress be included in the furlough and coughing up 20% of their pay? In the end I have faith in our spinmister in charge that he will let it go up to 28 Feb and then kick the can down the road another few months. This is how the Obama WH does it, and he will make it appear the GOPs fault.

But strangely I do not hear that nickname being used for Obama. -

The house has put forward two different bills that would take care of this sequestration thing. The Senate is sitting on them both. The ball is in their court.

Hannity on the radio yesterday and Rush on the radio today played audio of Obama from 2011 threatening to veto any attempt to repeal the sequester, or automatic across-the-board budget cuts, as everyone knows by now.
Of course, the GOP tried during the election to point out the disaster both economically and militarily if the sequester occurred. Remember how the White House refused to send out notices (60-day warnings) as required by law that defense plant workers would lose their jobs at the end of the year?
YouTube has a than 1 1/2 minute clip of Obama then:

Here is a less than 1 minute clip on the same subject:

The Democrats really don't want to cut spending one penny and they want to raise taxes some more in my opinion. -

The problem is it is not Obama's. It is Boehner's and the GOP's sequester ... and the majority of the American public realize this and know where to place the blame ... squarely in the lap of the GOP. The GOP keeps trying and keeps shooting themselves in their own feet.

In 2011, Obama said that he would veto any attempt to halt the sequester. It was a political issue in the campaign of 2012. If the Democrats did not like the idea, why did Obama say that there were no exit ramps from automatic spending cuts? Once Obama took the lead by promising a veto, it was his idea publically and we do not know what the Democrats were saying behind closed doors.
No, Obama insisted that the sequester would take place. He owns it, lock, stock, and barrel. -
Sequestration? Obama owns it. No question. -

Except for the military cuts, no one cares about the other cuts. I suspect the only thing that got the Democrats moving was that a lot of union defense plant jobs will be laid off.
They used to say that you can't have guns and butter but when Nixon cut the money loose from gold the Federal Reserve used their unconstitutional power to print money to pay government borrowing and Johnson during Viet Nam tried to give us both guns and butter--a war and high domestic consumption.
The point is that we need a strong military because the Arab Spring was a new jihad that must be contained militarily at once. It is time to cut domestic spending. Things like Big Bird can do very well without a penny of government spending. Cuts in domestic spending should be good for the economy.
Here in Indianapolis about a year ago downtown on the Circle (the center of Indianapolis) the Colombia Club, an exclusive luxury club originally started to support the presidential candidacy of Benjamin Harrison, got federal money for tuck-pointing of the ornate limestone façade of the private club. This is because they are on the historic register but they qualified for a grant from the federal government for exterior repairs and they accepted the money even though they are some of the richest people in America that belong to that club. -
Obama is a liar and a blasphemer and a killer of the unborn. I sometimes wonder if God is using this liar, blasphemer, and killer of the unborn to bring judgment on this country for the slaughter of 55,000,000 million unborn children and its endorsement of homosexual perversion. -

IMHO, your conclusion is dead-on!
And, just like the Assyrians of old to Judah, I believe God is simply letting the ZERO have his way as judgment to this nation.
