When my Jeep says to. I take it to the dealership.

At about every 3000 miles. This vehicle has over 200,000 on the odometer. I get my oil changrs at Big Brands Tire in California.
-
I go by the handbook in my glove compartment and take it to the dealership.

The filter is most important part of the oil change.
Usually it's around 9000 miles in my gas burner truck. About 8000 in my diesel, and about 7500 in my cars. -
I drive Toyota Avalons, an old 1996 V6, and a new 4 banger hybrid. The service manual for both requires 5000 mile oil changes.

I used to change my oil myself for years.
Now I typically take it to my "local" mechanic every 5000 miles. He works on cars as a hobby. He doesn't do tranny or motor rebuilds, but he does pretty much everything else. If there is a pressing need to change the oil and I can't take it to a mechanic for some reason I still do it myself. -
