Not sure I get this, are you saying we CANNOT tell his heart even though he is preaching a false gospel? Sorry I am a little slow at times.
Osteen theology is easy/ don't worry about details

He may well have had a legitimate salvation experience at one time. I don't know that. I haven't heard his personal testimony.
What I know is that he doesn't share the Gospel in his talks. -
Nice to meet you MC. -
-
You 2 have been on the BB for over 2 years...and are just now meeting?
Man, how big is the BB! :D -
Pretty big I guess. I thought I knew most everyone ;)

who can know it?
When scripture states this of the heart, how can we think we know another's heart, we do not fully know the depth of wickedness and deceitfulness of our own heart(s).
We do not know the heart of any other, only God does.
Is he preaching a false gospel? I think so. Should we warn others, by all means. Can we declare his condemnation, not hardly. Should we associate with him? No. Except he repent.
Now, tell me, who has all wisdom whereby there and there alone there is no error being taught by and among men?
Should we also condemn these?
What is the gospel?
the power of God unto salvation.
who teaches these things? in a world of humanism, where it is taught and believed that we are cooperating with God in our salvation, should we not first define the 'full' gospel that must be believed?

deleted, second thoughts on the matter. Here is a the transcripts. http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0506/20/lkl.01.html -
I'm less concerned that JO is preaching a false gospel than I am that he preaches no gospel at all.

Does anyone remember the Saturday Night Live character Stewart Smalley?
That's Joel Osteen.
"Daily Affirmations with Stewart Smalley"
(you must look at yourself in the mirror while saying this)
"I'm good enough.
I'm smart enough.
And doggone it people like me!"
That's Osteen. -
Dear Bro. Tim,
I do not believe I am tolerant at all.
Thanks for pointing out to me your thoughts on the stupidness of my last statement. I do not think it is stupid, so I will leave it.
As for seeing the fruit of others, you may think you are right, who is to say Jo is to have a basketful? YOU?
I work with Christians everyday, by their own testimony. Now, these same Christians (many) believe tongues is a gift still found in the church, they call this the full gospel and tell me I do not believe the gospel. Others tell me that God 'wants' to 'give' us the 'desires' of our heart, yet the Bible tells us the heart is deceitful and full of wickedness, so is it a true gospel to preach, teach and believe God wants to give us our desires (of our heart)? Or is it better to believe he wants us to learn more of Christ and desire to have his heart and mind?
Now, in regards to forming an opinion on the fruit of others, that is a church fellowship thingee, how are you going to pass judgement upon them because they are not in line with you on every point? Eternal opinions?
Remember, judgment ends in condemnation.
Again, I ask what measure of the gospel must we agree on?
bro. Dallas...trying not to look too stupid:p:wavey: -

Your tolerance and lack of thougt just surprises me is all. I guess after a few years on here I shouldn't be surprised that some cannot see thier foolishness. If I ask you the same questions JOel was asked what would you say? Would you proclaim Christ or for the sake of HUMANISM try not to offend anyone? And if you did speak up and say " Yes Larry that is the only way" guess what?!!!!! You are telling Jews, buddhist, muslem and everyone else who does not believe in Jesus Christ that they are on thier way too hell!!!!!! Think about that! Its the same thing. If Joel would have spoke up you could have given him the same tongue lashing you gave us on this thread. Your post quite frankly stinks of self righteouesness and a very lack of understanding of Bible and the Cause of Christ.
The example that you gave of tongues also shows a lack of understanding the situtaion! Those people, or at least the ones I know claim Christ, And believe He is the way. Big difference but I am afraid you have missed it completely.
CCR that was a long time of ago and it was you who sent the nasty letters and then claimed in front of everyone that you just wanted to get a long. I do apologize for my words to you, and unChrist like attitude. I realize that if I am wrong even only 10 percent I am still wrong. And Christ would not have me to return hate for hate so I do apologize. -

Frog
Again, I ask what measure of the gospel must we agree on?
Frog lets agree on one thing that the Bible makes it clear that we must believe in Jesus Christ, and believe He is the only way. Agreed? -
Dear Tim,
Sorry if I have come across as self-righteous. You have read me wrong.
I do believe Christ is the only way.
I do not believe that preaching the gospel brings regeneration.
I do believe that all for whom Christ died shall be regenerated.
I do not believe that all who are so regenerated will hear the gospel.
Of those who are blessed to hear the gospel, I do not believe they will all believe it.
Some believe God is sovereign in all aspects of salvation.
Some believe they must initiate faith, then they receive regeneration.
Some believe they must receive a series of experiences of grace, of which speaking in tongues is one.
Some believe they may be saved this morning, but lost by dinner this evening.
Some believe the redemption they have in Christ is eternal.
Some believe because they are blessed to hear the gospel of the finished work.
Some are regenerated and looking for that rest, expecting, hoping and praying.
Paul told Timothy the gospel brings life and immortality to light. If life and immortality is not present, the gospel does not bring it to light. If they are present, their belief may be very different than yours and mine.
Paul told Timothy in another place that if we deny him (speaking of Christ), he cannot deny himself.
The writer of Hebrews, I believe to be Paul, wrote of the OT saints they did not see the fulfillment of the promise, but saw them from afar off, were convinced of them and embraced them. All prior to the 'great' commission, or the roman road. All by the operation of the Holy Spirit.
All the work of God, God does not change.
Now, if you have interpreted me to have condemned you or others on this thread, I am sorry. I find it difficult to see how I have condemned you when my posts have been opposed to the ability of one person condemning another.
bro. Dallas :wavey:
btw, I received a copy of your post in my email. I did not know you had deleted it until after I had responded. If I have offended you by my responding to that post I am sorry. Also, you are right and I am wrong, your post did use the adjective sillyness[sic], not stupid, sorry for adding to your words what you did not say. -
A coward will never go forward. Surely, he will miss his reward. A dead hero is better than a thousand men living in cowardice. Fears and insecurities are devil-given imaginations of an unfaithful and wavering man. Bear in mind that fear of men is an abominable reason to justify our sin of denying the Lord Jesus Christ.
Copied from somewhere but I like it. -
It is odd, at least to me, the fact the Bible more often attributes sinfulness, lust(s) of the flesh, evil desires, and carnality to man.
Why are we so quick to attribute our own depravity to the devil?
Are we so different than Paul in Rom. 7 that we do not find a war in our bodies against our spirits (regenerated believers) but that all our propensity to actively engage in sin, to purposefully omit that which is right, to even lack a measure of faith, it is because of the operation of satan?
bro. Dallas:wavey: -
I say both
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
