I like Newt and believe he speaks the truth. I do not agree though with referring to the war as a phoney war. I think all of the soldiers that died or were wounded would not accept the war being referred to as a phoney war. So, although I would agree with him I think he could have used a better choice of word in opening.

I agree with Cutter. The speech is awesome, the title is shockingly misleading.
-
He was not referring to our troops or their efforts in any way. -

It's insane to fight terrorists overseas, and let them invade us from below, and we appear to be too afraid to fix it.

On the surface "Phony War" may sound like a poor title, but until (most of) the country and the entire Congress gets serious about the war it is a "Phony war"
I often see a bumper sticker that reads "War is not the Answer" I agree with that - somewhat. My bumper sticker would read:
"War is Not the Answer - VICTORY IS!"
One action Congress needs to do is to re-activate at least 4 divisions (that would be 16 separate brigades). This would alleviate the all to often re-deployment to a combat zone.

I'll just go with JESUS SAVES. -
This is a shocking video!

Newt will never be President.
Everyone agrees how terrible conditions are. And everyone agrees that it is related to the nature of Islam and has nothing to do with Israel. And no one ever thought that it was a good idea to pull out of the enclave in Gaza. And everyone wonders what the left is thinking when they insist that they will cut and run from Iraq.
That all said, I still don't think that Newt will ever be President and I do not support him.
I am for Fred Thompson. -
Thompson would be a satisfactory sacrificial lamb for the GOP in November 2008.

Ken, how can you say that the GOP will lose this early?
Ken, how can you say that the GOP will lose this early?
Fred Thompson promises to be a good candidate. He does not have the liberal domestic agenda of Rudy but leans towards Reaganism. He supports the general GOP foreign policy. He is likable and should do well.
The problem with Newt is that he has all that intelligence but he cannot get any traction for a comeback. I think that he should try running for Congress again. -
Thompson is bring and uninspiring and won't win the GOP presidential nomination. Even if he did, Senator Clinton will wallop him or whomever the GOP nominee is. Senator Clinton is just as good of a campaigner as her husband.

What will Newt do?
So why is Newt still out there working away? -
Clinton is shrill and devisive. She inspirees no one and will struggle to beat the GOP candidate. I am glad she will most likely get the nomination. She is not her husband and really only has the main base as support.
-
However, time will tell. Time will tell. -
Not really. -
Yes, really.

I'm new here, but I have been monitoring this site for months. At first I wasn't sure if I wanted to join, but now that I have, let me state that politics is my main interest and I also think that Hillary Clinton will be the democratic nominee. I also think she will be a formidable opponent regardless of who she faces in the general election. I guess this is either good or bad depending on which party a person supports.

Welcome aboard, Dagwood. :)

Again Newt is right on, but the leftists in Congress have successfully established the notion that we must pull out. If they are successful in gaining the White House and maintaining Congress, they will most certainly not pull out significantly. This whole issue is politics at its worse. Thier whole goal is to undermine this President, and create a notion that they, and only they, can establish foreign policy and run America. The title is perhaps a bit over the top, but does illustrate that hind sight is always clearer.
