some years back they arrested a child molester in our town.. they put him in a holding cell with a violent criminal.. by this time, a crowd had gathered around the police station, cause the community wanted to tear the guy apart.. the cops conviniently left the two prisoners alone and left the station house to "try and calm the crowd down" before things got out of control.. needless to say, over the shouts of the crowd, and the cops telling everyone to go home, you could hear the beating taking place.. word got back that after he was sent to jail, he got his head cut off in a prison riot.. in fact, there are some nasty riots going on right now in sao paulo, and whenever these pop up, the first to go are the child moletors, killed by other inmates..
"Conveniently" is abuse of power. Prisoners sometimes need protection from vigilantes. If a person is in custody, they should not be subject to violence by mobs or inmates.
That said, TP is right...some cases test my opposition to the death penalty. I also agree with WinDork..yep, this one is very nasty!
I don't know - I still find it hard to believe.
Even if you wanted to abuse your baby (but a newborn?!), would you do it in the hospital where you've got to know nurses, doctors and staff are keeping a close eye on the babies? Wouldn't you wait until you got her home?
Yeah, I know some people are depraved, perverse, etc., but this just doesn't make any sense.
Excellent question.
This same idea was posed a while ago between some of us standing a long watch.
We had seen a lot of graphic things the previous weeks and none of us had the time to sit and process them.
When we started thinking about it, we wondered if it was possible that two different species of human were on this planet, one we called 'normal' (yeah I know, what is normal anyway)that was like most people and one 'abnormal' that was inherrently evil and perfectly willing to do indescribable things to another person.
Do any of you wonder about that, especially in light of this story (whether true or not)?
