I chose only 2.

Body piercings and Tatoos

But NOT because "Pastors" shouldnt have them.

Because NO HUMAN BEINGS should have them. Pastors, non pastors, men, women, teenagers, Sailers, Marines, ANYONE.

*IN MY OPINION* they are hidieous, gross, and tacky. (just my opinion!)

It boggles my mind that even one human being since the dawn of creation would want those nasty things on the body that God has created for them.

Even when I was a kid, and some of my friends talked about wanting them, and how they thought they were "cool", I would think (and sometimes say) "Have you LOST YOUR MIND???

Again, I am only speaking from my opinion. I judge nobody for having them. I dont judge a pastor if they get one. Or earrings.

Just....my...opinion.

As far as I am concerned everything else on that list is perfectly acceptable for a pastor.

Can you add two items on the poll -
1. Mixed swimming
2 and of course playing pool

You had me worried for a minute Salty.

I guess that means Poker Night is still on. I'll bring the cigars.

Well, based on I Tim 3:2-7, I would add a few things to your list.

A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
A pastor should not
  • Be unmarried
  • Be a drunk
  • Be a fighter
  • Be a new believer
  • Have a poor reputation

Well, Jesus had body piercings: both hands and both feet. I believe His name is "tatooed" in our foreheads. He ate with "winebibbers" and worked on Sunday. He wasn't married, either. Just a thought.

The one thing a pastor should not do is focus more on man's approval than God's approval. What matters is I Tim 3:2-7, as was already posted.

Pastors should not publicly kiss their tattooed and bodypierced wives while wearing an earring and while riding their motorcycles to the dance hall/pub after church on Sunday.

I saw Tinytim do that. It wasn't edifying.

OK now, quit confusing our polls with Scripture. You know better than that! Let's focus on the really important things like tattoos - and mixed bathing.

A couple of follow up questions....

If not their wives, who else would they kiss in public?

If not their wives, who else would they dance with??

May I say "Thank you!" to SALTCITYBAPTIST, padredurand, rbell, SBCPreacher and

FriendofSpurgeon for showing this legalistic farce for exactly what it is!

That means Jesus would not qualify as a pastor.
That's right, unless of course you allow that the church is the bride of Christ.

Of course that gets pretty close to the Roman Catholic explanation of this passage and why their priests and bishops are unmarried and we would not want to do that.

mcdirector, we had a pool table, I never could get it full of water without it leaking out those holes on the side and corners. Waste of money if you ask me. Who wants to swim inside anyway?

C4K,

Oh, man...I wish you hadnt of quoted my post before I edited it!

After posting the 1st time I went back and read it and thought...Oh no...I went a little "overboard" regarding what I thought about tatoos. I got to thinking that maybe some brothers (or sisters) who have tatoos might read it and be offended, so I edited it so as to tone down my little rant.

You got to it before I edited it, though.

Sorry bout that!

I didn't get a great shot...but this one was just before the "unfortunate wheelie incident."
