"So I suggest in this book
that maybe our politicians should rephrase the question that Ronald Reagan asked in
1980: Are we better off than we were four years ago? It should be rephrased to: Is the
future going to be better off and are our kids going to be better off than we are today?"
For now, the answer is "no."
And we will be the ones to blame.
We are the children of men and women who scrimped, worked, did without, and sacrificed much to make our world better.
And we are the selfish and self-indulgent offspring who are spending the prosperity they gave us with no regard for the world we will leave behind us.
Bush is the epitome of our generation, I am ashamed to say.
