Some churches focus most of their missionary effort in their own state, nation, to a particular group, or even a particular continent. What does your church do for missions?

Title: The Holy Bible, King James Version

Matthew 28: (KJV)
18And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

19Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

We do our humanly best to do this.

My church has many ministries and missions all over. We support many in our local area. We also support two very vital ministries that we as a church felt God led us to. One is in Montana and the other is in the Ukraine.

While this poll only "divides" the pie into 10 segments, if EVERY church supported missionaries in EVERY area, then each segment would be at 10% (of the total 100%)

Sadly, it is already evident that some areas garner more attention - some mission fields have responses from 24+ out of the reponders. Others have 10 or 11.

We certainly do need to focus our mission effort on reaching the WHOLE world, not just the more glamorous missions.

I can't really respond to the poll, but I thought I'd just mention that our still young church has only just gotten to the point where we can hire a pastor. He will be full time, but have only about 3/4 of the pay he deserves, and we don't have our own meeting place yet. It is for this reason that we have chosen to hold off on on foreign missions at present, and focus on our Jerusalem first. We keep in contact and pray for many missions, and some of our people support a few of these from their household budgets. We all look forward and long for the day (and hope it will be soon) ;) when we can expand into all the world! For starters, we are praying that God might call one of our own one day, if He wills it!

Joy, with the world coming to the United States, your church may want to get its feet wet by supporting an "ethnic" work near your hometown. Or (for the sake of the discussion at hand) why worry about sending/supporting a missionary in Mexico when there is a sizable Spanish speaking population just down the road and across the tracks.
